looks cool, the crane looks the same as one we had on a mog at work, cant remember the make maybe MKV or somthing, could even be the same one! dont really miss the mog but the crane was ace.

the work 130 tipper, 2008 maybe puma engine? always seems to rev up slightly when in the low range, you lightly touch the throttle and the revs surge a bit, which is annoying when trying to reverse a trailer and the like, is this normal or is it somthing to try and fix. thanks carl

cool thanks for those links, we have got the opportunity to manage some nice trees and the clients objective is solely the trees health which is unfortunalty quiet rare around here so i want to do the best we can for the trees. thanks carl

tree runner do two sized bollards, the small one has rubber pads and is a nice handy small bollard, the bigger one is a serious lump with spikes on it, feels impossible to bend or damage, so id go with the bigger one if you want to lower big bits. both well made and nice to use,

looking for suggestions on good books or websites on sensitive tree care for older trees, just looking to learn more about retaining trees with defects etc. thanks carl.

we planted a mullberry for a client a while back, i think its been grafted onto a long trunk, any way one side has really vigorous growth and the other side has slow poor growth with some die back. over the last few years we have pruned back the good side to maintain an even crown. client is not happy with the tree and might remove it, so wondering about either removing the poor side or pruning it hard back maybe with a view to a pollard cycle. how do people normally prune mullberries? anything specific? sorry no photos at present. thanks carl

sounds like you got lucky to me. i wouldnt of been pleased to get a trades person out and agree a price for the job only to have them turn up on the day and say its going to cost a load more to do the job! (obviously if the spec had changed then thats different).

i got it and enjoyed watching it, i havent actually put much of it into practice if iam honest, most of the trees i climb are small and some of the techniques where pretty complicated and better suited to larger more sprawling trees. plenty of info in the series and definatlly inspires one. so yes i thought it was worth getting. carl.

same here really, somtimes base tie to a different tree out of the way if its just a quick bit of work on the tree. top tie for me just feels better, safer and easier to use.

cool thanks , i just thought if there was not much of a difference then i may as well get the CE stuff, i like the non CE cougar, the only gripe is that it goes into more of a square profile when used with the bulldog bone, this can make advancing the bulldog have a bit more resistance as the square profile can turn and become wider. any other ropes that are good for the bulldog bone ?? thanks carl

has anyone used the non CE stuff side by side with the CE marked stuff?? i have heard the CE stuff has more stretch. i have used the non CE stuff for a while and have been happy with it. thanks carl

a friend was climbing today and realised his bridge wasnt right,he came down and the outer sheath looked okish but the core felt as if it was missing, so he cut it and at least 2 strands of the core had disintegrated , now im not sure how much strength the core provides, but it seem a bit worrying a rope can fall apart inside the outer sheath! anyway if you use this harness it would be worth double checking. i think there maybe another similar thread about this on here. thanks carl

thanks for the replies, just going to go with plain plaster boards and fibreglass as the insulated boards i got a price on wernt suitable for ceilings and the right ones where more again. got a pretty small budget to throw at the house so dont want to go too mad in one area and not be able to do other work that needs to be done, enjoying it all so far , especially now the weather is good. thanks again, carl.

starting to insulate the loft, i ended up taking down the t+g ceiling board down, i was going to put up plaster board then put rockwool above , but i have been looking at plaster board with foam insulation on the back and i thought this may be an easier option, any thoughts?? also it seems people put a serious amount of insulation in there loft!!? is this really necessary , iam keen to keep as much space and air around the timbers. thanks carl

its a mechanical srt device, a few threads on them on here, good bit of kit that works well imo.
