  1. Maybe they are a film crew doing a stump removal documentary?
  2. Fairy muff, thats a good enough reason.
  3. Just out of interest why would you not use a lanyard? They help far more than they hinder, in fact they dont have any negative's ime. TBH I wouldnt be happy grounding for someone who didnt use a lanyard, especially since those who have used a saw without a lanyard have admitted to dropping saws. Not having a go just curious tbh.
  4. Looks like a nice place to work and you did a tidy job. Although at 35 ton I would of expected the first pic to look like this
  5. I Agree with Mr Hill. Although not the last sentence, he has obviously never seen me at work. For the right amount of money I can make the difficulty of opening a garden gate equal to that of fueling a Saturn 5 rocket.
  6. A good "experienced" climber will have references that he would tell you about. As others have said hire them in for a day, you will soon know if they are an asset to you or not.
  7. I wouldnt worry about damage to the roof, just dont put any new holes in the side of the house and you will be fine.
  8. All depends on why it's being cut. Rob's would make for a happier tree, Mark's would make a happier client. I wouldn't cut at the red line without reducing the remaining limb back first. The blue is more likely of the two.
  9. I would of guessed at balsam poplar too, although I do like the term black hybrid as it covers a lot:thumpup:.
  10. Not agreeingt or disagreeing but is the op 100% fact?
  11. Errr no I think I meant something else as yeah, yeah I knew that was already there. Sounds like quite a radical change to the site going on. Some excellent ideas people are coming up with.
  12. An option so that pm's get emailed, if that's possible!
  13. Maybe the best thing for you to do is go and start a forum of your own then? Sorry but I cba seeing comments like this anymore, people who don't like what they see please leave and stop moaning. A dislike button would get my vote.
  14. BBC 2 might be off interest to you guys.
  15. QUOTE=chopperpete;1041120]The other variation is the suspect car is indicating left, but as you pull out from the side road they continue staright into your car. Remember a flashing indicator just proves the bulb is working! That's attempted murder in my book. Ramming someone with 2 ton of car on purpose:thumbdown: It should be jail time and I life long driving license ban on any one caught pulling these stunts.
  16. Without trying to offend anyone, I cant believe people have the brass neck to do that ie buy cheaper elsewhere then expect the local guy to drop everything to help them out knowing they won't come back again unless theres a problem with something else, never mind brag about it:001_rolleyes: Every single one of us would be fuming if a tree customer did that to us. " I know you didnt do the tree work as you were too expensive so I used someone else but I need you to come around and sort a few problems out for free if you dont mind" So, how many of us would be round there like a shot showing them what they missed out on by not hiring us in the first place, and they will surely use us in the future? Or would we all tell them to bugger off and that they shouldnt have been tight gits in the first place?
  17. I presume you guys havent seen the flintstones! Clearly shows how caveman and dinosaur lived together in the not too distant past. In fact if we are brininging stuff back from the caveman day I reckon we should start using brontosawarses again. They did a great job in Freds work lifting heavy stuff and that, we could easily use them instead of cranes on a tree job:thumbup1: They can lift the heavy gear but before that munch on the brash=no chipper and free fuel for the dino. Bonzaa. Anyway, pushing all the sciencey stuff to one side some of the meals you guys are eating sound tasty:thumbup:
  18. What a silly diet, everyone knows you can't get dinosaur meat anymore unless you live by Jurassic park:001_rolleyes: Since dinosaur was the staple food of the caveman I can't see working tbh. Good luck though.
  19. A rude customer doesn't deserve the time of day, why on Earth should they!? I have no time for rude, disrespectful, ignorant people. A 'wrong' customer is a different matter, wrong in the manner that it differentiates from my 'right'
  20. I get the same now and then! My sinus have been bad for as long as I remember. Otrivine works very well but its not recomended for more than 7 days, I read that after using it for about a year! Reminds me also to visit the docs again and see if they can do anything else. I have heard of that lignum vitae problem before, not very nice and sorry to hear him die so young.
  21. If sugar coated pig fat on bread is the best they can offer then I would seriously consider changing your tour company on your next holiday!! Cany you like go to a water park, sea excursion or get pissed in a bar somewhere?
  22. I would say over 35, no offense anyone. Less of the being fit, im sure there are 50 year olds fitter than me, more of the it takes quite a while to be good at this job and I wouldnt want to be over 40 before I was any good in this profession. Although there are plenty of 20 year olds who will never do a decent days tree climbing in their life.
  23. IM hoping there are mini games, like splatting the pedestrian who entred the cordoned off area, flicking deadwood at the groundy who is wearing earmuffs and looking at his feet and tripping up the keen client who wants to help but gets in the way all the time?
  24. The later the better. Trying not to offend anyone but Tbh anyone desperate to get back to work really needs to look at improving their social life! Fair enough if people need the money and each to their own and all that stuff, but i just don't get it!:confused1:i There is plenty of time to work, enjoy spending time with friends and family first if possible.
  25. Ive listened to quite a few business men over the years and from what they all say there is no money in anything! Well unless they are trying to promote their business to you then they are Gods gift, always busy and do quite well for themselves. There is good money to be made in arb but imo you need to be a good business man rather than enjoy swinging about in trees. I am neither which is probably why I dont make any money, in fact best to ignore my advice altogether tbh.
