  1. I get the same now and then! My sinus have been bad for as long as I remember. Otrivine works very well but its not recomended for more than 7 days, I read that after using it for about a year! Reminds me also to visit the docs again and see if they can do anything else. I have heard of that lignum vitae problem before, not very nice and sorry to hear him die so young.
  2. If sugar coated pig fat on bread is the best they can offer then I would seriously consider changing your tour company on your next holiday!! Cany you like go to a water park, sea excursion or get pissed in a bar somewhere?
  3. I would say over 35, no offense anyone. Less of the being fit, im sure there are 50 year olds fitter than me, more of the it takes quite a while to be good at this job and I wouldnt want to be over 40 before I was any good in this profession. Although there are plenty of 20 year olds who will never do a decent days tree climbing in their life.
  4. IM hoping there are mini games, like splatting the pedestrian who entred the cordoned off area, flicking deadwood at the groundy who is wearing earmuffs and looking at his feet and tripping up the keen client who wants to help but gets in the way all the time?
  5. The later the better. Trying not to offend anyone but Tbh anyone desperate to get back to work really needs to look at improving their social life! Fair enough if people need the money and each to their own and all that stuff, but i just don't get it!:confused1:i There is plenty of time to work, enjoy spending time with friends and family first if possible.
  6. Ive listened to quite a few business men over the years and from what they all say there is no money in anything! Well unless they are trying to promote their business to you then they are Gods gift, always busy and do quite well for themselves. There is good money to be made in arb but imo you need to be a good business man rather than enjoy swinging about in trees. I am neither which is probably why I dont make any money, in fact best to ignore my advice altogether tbh.
  7. Sounds like a lot of work on the horizon, I think ill turn off my phone and just look at the nasty weather through the window. Theres a lot more men with a lot more chainsaws this time around so probably not the scope for profiteering that the was in 87. Plus there are probably a lot more wiser insurance companies now
  8. I think the majority see us as a needless expense. Customers are impressed during and after the event but beforehand, well most have no clue as to what's involved so you can't blame them if they think we are grass cutters with chainsaws.
  9. I think people are reading far too deeply into all of this! Surely its a simple case of be civil or be somewhere else? There are lots of sections in the forum to post relevant and irrelevant topics, including your sex, religion, look at me drinking a pint of cider threads and everything in between. Just use a bit of common sense and dont speak to people like they are inferior idiots and the forum will be back to the way it should be in no time. I have seen a big improvement over the last week or so and must say its a nicer place to be a part of now. No one is forcing anyone to look on here and Im sure that most dont contribute to the running costs, so, Im sure that Steve wouldnt mind if those who didnt agree took it upon them selves to bugger off and start their own forum.
  10. I am sure most of us are guilty of being pricks at some time or another but yes it seems that some want to make a career out of it. Maybe being a bit more heavy handed with the tempary bans, having a 'stop being an idiot button' so people can be given a little slap by everyone if they are being stupid and also a 'stop blowing smoke up their arse' button for the creeps. No seriously it must be a difficult job for Steve and the moderators but I'll guess that most people would go for the heavier handed approach rather than just asking people to be more reasonable.
  11. I thought this thread was all about promoting you and your business? Surely you must take the rough with the smooth, it cant all be pats on the back and well done boy.
  12. Well im thinking outside the box here but I would try for a shower and a change of clothes. If need be I can lend you half a bottle of Joop! thats been fermenting in my wardrobe for the last 25 years. Smells exactly the same as the day I saved up my pocket money to buy it. What is Jara wood? Sounds Australian!

I suspect the OP is probably reading this and having a bit of a laugh. Come on it seems she has a sense of humour,. Anyone who posts pics of themselves on the internet has a fairly good idea of what might entail and I would hazard at a guess its probably safer to be ogled at on the internet than on the street. Stop the cock fighting.
  14. I would have just gone to another petrol station instead of having a go at some kid. Yeah it could have been more than his jobs worth if he had let you fill it up! I'm sure they get all kinds of people trying it on with all kinds of containers so tbf you can't blame him.
  15. If someone asked me to jog about on site they would be harshly laughed at and too right to>> If they seriously meant it I think it would be rude to not give them a slap tbh. Or maybe just laugh a bit harder. Honestly, you werent asking much up until that point though. Remember no one else works as hard as 'us', that goes for everyone.
  16. So 103 weeks longer than it takes to get NPTC qualified. "And a fiver extra per man per job won't break the bank" I love that bit:lol: you should be an insurance salesman, everything only costs a fiver a day, its just that they all add up to a hell of a lot of fivers! Besides did you pull that from nowhere or did you sit down and work it all out? I loose jobs or a tenner so it does make a difference. The danger is to us,ie the individual, not a house full of people with a gas leak. Put yourself in this situation for a moment. You need your boiler fixing as it smells funny and you also need a a couple of elderberry's felling and a conny hedge topping. Now ill hazard at a guess but I bet you put a bit more work into getting a qualified boiler repair type of guy than you do into someone with a chainsaw and a van. Why, because you have heard of gas safe, NOPE, because if one does a bad job you and your family wont wake up in the morning and the other guy, well its just a tree and hedge so what.
  17. No it wouldnt it would help them out! Those that complied would have to increase their prices, those that dont wont. There is never, ever going to be anything like a safe gas scheme for arborists so its not worth comparing the two or crossing your fingers hoping something magical will happen that will get rid of all those nasty cheap, tree hating morons who dare to price a job lower than me. Why on earth I have to do a refresher course to cut down Mrs Smiths 10 foot leylandii is beyond me. Maybe if I was fitting a potential lethal deadly device into her house to heat up her home then I can maybe see the point. (Especially since and I presume this) that it takes more than a couple of days of training to become a fully qualified corgi/gas safe engineer. Telling me how to hold an 020 is not going to help me or my customers out very much.
  18. You need to put you prices up mate so you can afford to maintain your gear. Another good reason why tractors and trailers should require an MOT.
  19. Not by a long shot, have you read your last thread? only jk 10 pages in 2 days must be a near record! At least the OP now knows what questions to ask when buying in the future.
  20. I can never understand why some think that! If they have a lower price than 'me' they will do a crap job, That job looks like it could be knocked out in an hour or 2 as others have said. I suppose 'our' price is always the right one and everyone else is either doing it for beer money or is a rip off merchant.
  21. What grades though as I presume that isn't all at grade A? I'm sure it's not too difficult to get an A level but I guess the top grade is a bit more difficult. Maybe it proves that the teaching system is improving?
  22. Glad you seem to have waded through the shite and decided what saw your after. Some of you lads need to get yourself into a RL pub and grow up!
  23. I think STI'S play a major part in cervical cancer. Possibly that women taking the pill slept around more which led to increased STI'S etc.
  24. No one ever thinks that they are the prick.
  25. None of any of the above, 020T(not MS200T) if I had no choice on this horrendous sounding place! That or a giraffe, im not 100% sure. I know its a choice between 201v150
