  1. One of the many round these parts, got tons of trees to clear up on return:-)
  2. They say free publicity is the best! Nice little touch, I have been getting calls all over the xmas period and have been out and about making safe only. Having to put back all prebooked work in January to go and deal with the clear up. Great news for paying the tax bill off at the end of January though!!
  3. I would have put a lanyard behind me on the stem at the rear, still plenty of room to work with, done plenty of big aerial fells and don't seem to have a problem strapping in, don't doubt your capability just wondered why which you have explained.
  4. whenever cutting i will always have a second point tied in, routine thing really for me.
  5. The diseased limb fell, any reason the climber wasn't using a secondary positioning line, ie lanyard?
  6. I think the evident limb failure that was already present on this tree contributed to the barber chairing of the tree by weakening the fibres in the stem so when the tree started to go its weak points inside became exposed to the pressure and failed. Luckily you had a line in it as a safety measure to keep it away from the target being the house. I have used this technique clear felling leaning trees and have known it as the adjusted gun technique this is a good video for reference. 7. Yes apparently for all those giants living here that "may look in on my garden!!"
  8. like yours then:awink:
  9. The best of all is when they phone and say "I'm sorry to call you on a Sunday, but.........." the sentence pretty much explains it all!
  10. My Uncle in-law welded me up a copy of the stihl one very similar to yours, I love it. Logging was a chore with this its now 3xquicker and as you say easy on the back, do you use timber tongs as well for shifting the cord about, if not get some.
  11. I'm with the salt spray suggestions along with all other contaminants from the road surface.
  12. Just to say I now have this filled, thank-you to those that viewed and replied, Dave.
  13. Hi all, I am looking for someone to join us for about 2 weeks from next Monday 4th November to assist on a job which is lowering of quite a long hedge. You will be working alongside myself and my colleague and will be assisting loading the truck with arisings and taking them and loading them onto various firesites set around the site. Hours will be 8-4 Mon, Thur, Fri and 10-4 Tues, Weds with pay being £9p/h invoiced to me. You will need boots, lid etc and do not need chainsaw experience. The site is in Littlebourne, nr Canterbury and you may contact by PM or call between 8-7 on 07817191055 Many thanks, Dave
  14. good thinking guys, mine is nearing renewal so food for thought there:thumbup1:
  15. Just looked back into this thread, it is off original topic but linked. anyway the woodchip station is operational now i think, this link may be good start for you to make enquiries Richborough Energy Park.
  16. well it does say on your avatar location:margate:confused1:
  17. deja vu!
  18. I needed to order some bits for some saws so rang up and ordered as usual and said do i need to come and collect them and the guy said no we can post it today. They are not a main dealer so can do what they want with bits they have bought to resell from stihl. If its a saw then i think they do face to face. Sorted my spares issue now, so i can keep the saws running and parts coming:thumbup:
  19. Why not haul it direct to the new place at Richborough, I think they are after chip there and it is literally just down the road from where you are. Use a local haulier or grab person and surely you'll make more out of it.
  20. I get most of your points but there is absolutely no way in the world I would expect anyone to "run back" on site. If you are having to run then there is not enough time quoted to complete the job in a safe and stress free manner.
  21. I find private plates border on the side of sad.
  22. 40 pints of ruby red kegged up and getting ready to go get blackberries for vodka and sloes for the xmas gin! I love this time of year great Album that fits this time is Out Of Season by Beth Gibbons and Rustin Man, check it out.
  23. Give mike at sawbits co uk a call as he has lots of old saws in his workshop and may be able to supply spares to you, oh and he can post.
  24. I know a chartered Surveyor very well been a family friend for years, if this is of any help pm me and I'll pass on his details. If not I also have a friend in sussex who has recently arranged a full enviromental and subsidence report for a site I am now working on in Kent. Happily pass on contacts if you like by pm. Cheers Dave
  25. From my experiences over the years with various sport and vocational body glitches I have visited Chiro's, osteo's and physio's and the top boys for me are the physio's, that's for me though.
