  2. its not a native tree in scotland tom alder ash aspen bird cherry crack willow downy birch gean goat willow hazel hawthorn holly juniper rowan scots pine silver birch sessile oak wych elm and yew anyway the only thing u find up a beech is squirrels and crow nests...biodiversity wise it comes a poor second to the oak
  3. oak every time, beech is a non native species and it suppresses the woodland flora too much, in my humble opinion

  7. walked past that tree many years ago nver gave it a second look.....nice find u can walk along the coast into north berwick from there crackin golf courses nearby too......archerfield and muirfield to left and North Berwick (bass rock course] to the right

  10. if i mind right, it has heavy rollers that had crush the branches down beforethey go thru, u should get a demo no probs
  11. had a demo with 1, was impressive moving around, and really took in bushy heads very well.
  12. main problem with helicopters i have seen, they dont lift a great weight most 400-500kg. trees needed to be sneeded out and cross cut in wood
  13. the flywheel is clear of crap/it hasnt clogged up with wet chippings? shute maybe clear but flywheel area clogged up
  14. its stll chippin along....it aint costing me anything jp, unless a bundle of chipping work comes up ill hang on to it for the time being.

  16. been having an intermitten fault with feed roller with my chipper, traced it down to the contact switch, tried the nearest local dealer, priced at £15+vat , googled it and managed to get it direct from manufacturer £2.65 + vat.......saved a few beer tokens

  18. seems like the council have sold the ground to raise capital while keeping the wood as it is for the next 18 years.........at over £2000 per acre i dont see it as commercial enterprise timber wise........maybe new owner hoping to get house on it in the future.Small woodlands seem to go for well over their real commercial value.
  19. always did my chimney myself from the top using the ordinary rods, now the stoves in , been pricing up the flexy rod for sweeping from the bottom. £11 +vat a rod 7or 8 rods plus brush and adapter. take a few sweeps to pay for itself

  21. trying not to be cynical but where has all the grant money gone for planting this......they are not paying contractors/workers to do the work, getting volunteers and pocketing the money and waste it in house..i am afraid it happens all the time now rant over
