  1. Get a work shop manual for around a tenner. Really handy. In fact get it for all your machines.
  2. Over the last 20 mins I've been getting a white page with black writing in the top left corner stating all sorts of errors, If i get it again I will take a shot of it and post it to you.
  3. Is there something going on with your server Steve. Or is it just me Adam
  4. By the way the 46 will do BIG stuff as well! So a saw for many tasks, and you can put big bars on it too.
  5. And a medium standard (straight) Silky hand saw blade.Mmmmm. nice and sharp!!
  6. Also be careful of these butterfly harness's that pinch your crown jewels!
  7. For a start get a 046. upgraded earlier this year from the old 044. it's the absolute all rounder. You will probably not need any other ground saw. IMO. perhaps a few thoughts from the good people on here wouldn't go amiss. I also have the 026, by the way. Good luck. and as the other feller says don't buy it all yet. There's alot of stuff you don't need.
  8. Talking to some firemen the other day, they said they don't climb the ladders anymore, they just get the hose out. HAHA.
  9. I'd be more embarrassed to lose 3K plus wages. I did offer the the one days work we did for free, and he could get other people to complete the works if he wanted. So he would have been £900 pounds up and me 3 guys wages for a day down. It was his call, oh and it was an insurance job as well. This is rare, and of course there are a lot of jobs that your pricing is lean, but this last year and a half that has really paid off and we are busier than ever.
  10. Hi All I need to get maps of housing estates, Any ideas on how to get these at a reasonable price. Is it Crown or os maps? Can I download these off t'internet? any ideas of prices Cheers
  11. It very rarely happens. Once on a fallen tree that I just couldn't see the underside of it, I requoted it at £3600, from £600 and he accepted it!!! and once on a lovely poplar, bless the poplar. Whenever I quote poplar now I think of a good price then triple it.... if you can't get a crane to it.
  12. I'm talking about jobs that i've charged £600 for and they should be in the thousands, and as the others guys say I'm giving them 3 guys for a day at no charge, but if I did the work it just would be paying them to do the job. Better to lose a little than to lose a lot. It doesn't happen often -3 times in 12 years, but just occasionally:biggrin:
  13. If I really screw up, and I mean really screw up, then after the 1st day I go to the client and I say "I've really screwed up the price, you can have this day on me and we walk away, or we can re price at £x" they always continue with the job.
  14. The hire company is one of those car clubs so they don't supply snow chains. Going to French Alps straight after crimbo. There is one road to the house that after a certain point you must have chains for. If you could check you chains that would be cool. And I shall keep an eye on the rims. Cheers.
  15. Hi, I'm driving a golf with tyre size - 195 65 R15 91T. "Finnish Driving" the hire company said if I damage the car with the chains I will be charged, so I said it's okay to chuck it off the mountain, they said - yeah. HAHHA. So do you reckon any chain will do. Or shall I get the easy fit self adjusters? Hear from you soon Cheers
  16. Any help would be appreciated. Am looking at a cheap set of chains, probably from fleaBay. I need them for a hire car we are taking from the uk, so cheap is good. Any pros and cons attributed to cheap, or should I go a bit more expensive then flog them afterwards? Cheers. Adam
  17. I went to a clients house and he had a sonus, but also had the apple ipod remote system ( which i have) and he rated the apple way above Sonus, also on price. With apple you need an airport express for each sound system, then you can play any track from any computer in the house to any sound system. I've played with my brother in laws Sonus and it's good but the apple remote is much more versatile. And of course it works from any iPod you link up and you can take the music out of the house as well. Hope that helps.
  18. Ahhh the good old days when things were over engineered
  19. Really cool for putting on a karabina at the end of your lowering rope, for super quick ties.
  20. I love trees... but they always look better on the back of my truck.
  21. Is that in case any laydee squirrels walk past and you will be the one in the harness. oooo yeah!
  22. God that sucks beyond belief. Might be fungi, there were reports last year of something giving allergic reactions, I had really bad reactions to, I don't know what, last year, I got referred to the allergy clinic earlier this year. They did the tests and said it could literally be anything I'm now on Cetirizine and will be for the rest of my life. They are non drowsy (for me anyway) and there are no side effects to taking them long term. It's better than having my lips/throat swell up and die (I suppose). Good luck old chap if you need any more info I can try and help. Oh and don't change career, there are ways around it. I personally think that I have a reaction to some thing in food.
  23. Yew is one of only six conifers that will break from hard wood eg back beyond the green, in my experience it takes 2-3 years to fully recover. But then you will have a ultra expensive brand new yew.
  24. Can I ask what you charged for that. I've got to price something really similar, I would say 4-500. Cheers
