  1. Just bought two Rupe, tungsten one for me and pink for my groundy Now Reg, does the trolley come in pink ??
  2. As long as you line your pockets with money who cares about the tree or public safety or future maintainance, at least you can get the beers in when it's your round I have been up plenty of lapsed "pollards" with no MEWP access and not been 100% about my anchor and have had to use unusual techniques on others which where positively dodgey. I dont have a problem if they are maintained, the problem I have is they never or very rarely are and thats when topping can and do cause problems and if you have, in 15 years seen very few topping cut failures, your walking round blind folded
  3. Who's the ugly one flexing his biceps, infact who are all the ugly ones Looks like you had a good laugh boys
  4. Looks good, I'll probably get one but they would be more suited to the LA boys, they would get much more use out of it than I
  5. ...and the material seems to not allow moisture out like the normal ones so getting wet through on the inside and inside the side pocket
  6. The difference between removing a healthy tree completely and topping is with removal you are not leaving behind potentail decay pockets and a potentailly badly managed tree in future Comparing the two is silly The main reason I dont like topping trees is because it's always done badly by some numpty that doesn't give a toss about anything else but lining their pockets and dont think about future consequence Then some climber comes along 20 years down the line trying to find a decent strong anchor after they have been called in to remove the tree because of peeling away branches There you go boys, my take on it
  7. Just move house to another area with a more decerning LA
  8. Might be specific to certain stroes Davey I ordered mine online but cant for the life of me remember where, sorry mate. They are good but I would like to try one of the heavier cheaper splitting mauls, I find for anything a little knotty, you have to really get mad with it to split them
  9. Now you've done this Reg and as an established "inventor" can you get on with the floating tea tray idea suggested in another thread for getting the teas into the crown of the tree to save descending
  10. I have one and was suprised to see them for sale in B&Q in the gardening tools aisle
  11. You should patent that idea James
  12. First you need to establish if it is the rear brakes that are warped. You need to clamp off the flexi pipe gently that runs from the body to the rear axle and try it again, this will make it so you are running on front brakes only and if the wobble goes then it is the rear and obviously if it doesn't it is the front discs. I have never seen rear discs warp it is normally always the front because they bear the brunt of the braking effort. Normally caused by going down long descents on brakes alone without using engine braking If it is your rear brakes then it could be something to do with your master cylinder which on defenders is responsible for distributing the braking force as they dont have load sensing valves Are the brake discs "blued" or pads cracked and glazed as if they have been over heated etc etc, look for the tell tale signs
  13. Do you resize before upload Brendon or rely on the site software to resize the image, I find if I do them the uploads work every time
  14. You sarcastic southern girly pants Thats spot on for me though David, I can appreciate the picture much better
  15. It does on some Sean but not always
  16. Thanks Antione On your piccys it comes up with a label but on Monkeyd's and Seans it doesn't always work by floating the mouse over ??
  17. I have the same sort of values Reg, but if there was anyone in tree work I would be influenced by it would be you, I hold your technical skills in very high regard. Now can I have discount for brown nosing
  18. Can you boys and girls label your pics before you upload them then when we float the mouse arrow over the pic it tells you what it is, at the moment it says "foray097.jpg" It makes it easier for ignoramous's such as me to associate name with picture and memorize Now let that be a lesson to you !!!
  19. The 300tdi (defender) doesn't have electronic power settings
  20. Pneumatic tyres are much better, just puncture proof them as stevie suggested. Much more lawn friendly and ride over slight lips in paving etc much better
  21. Nigel' date=' my amazon failed and the landrover failed, because I left them with the testing station, they never warm them up enough, all I did is told him I'll be back in 20 mins and went for a steady run, warmed the engine right through and both passed with very low results, when he asked me what I'd done I just said warmed it up properly mate I always book the cars in now to wait with them and take the motor for a run and straight onto the ramps It is important Jon because you can guarantee someone has messed about and the settings will be all over the place, get your pump calibrated (cost me £50) and then I'll tell you which screw to adjust and how much
  22. If you are "tweaking" the pump Jon you are better first taking it in and getting it calibrated and set to original settings first then you have a starting platform, but you only need to adjust one screw "very" slightly then take out the EGR brain under the middle seat and stick it in your c glove box. Mine has no EGR control box, no expensive catalytic down pipe, replace that with a standard and has had the pump "tweeked" and it flys through the mot emissions test
  23. I put a brand new engine in mine along with a new turbo and injector pump. The injector pump had had a part robbed off it so I put it in and asked the injection specailist to set the pump up to standard settings I put the pump back on and it was more sluggish than the original. I made one adjustment on the pump knowing all the other settings were correct and it transformed the vehicle. Loads of power and no smoke, except the obligatory 300tdi puff of smoke on start up
