  1. Exactly my sentiment... But we should also be planting new woodland on dis-used greenbelt for future generations and to also force councils into using brown belt for building and not chip away at our green and pleasant land
  2. Haha...I've just read the Road tax part from the Landcruiser page.... From £950 I can tax a 44 tonne artic for £700
  3. An easy question 4x4 SUV - Toyota Land Cruiser V8
  4. You seem to always think the worst of people Antione No, but I would like to live in a world full of healthy mature trees in public areas with a vast array of new young trees to take over should any become diseased For every mature tree taken down we should be planting multiple replacements not just one, otherwise maths say we will eventually become tree-less.

    oops

I reckon the car owners ignored cordon off areas or moved cones and tape and parked there. If they'd done that I'd have done the same and it would serve them right. Payback is sweet
  6. Exactly something like that Ady, It has the strength factor but not the stretch factor I already have a kinetic energy strap Ady, but they only have a stretch factor of 20% which would mean you only get an initial pull of 0.9m then the power would tail off. You would need to put 3 in a row to build up enough elasticity.
  7. Sorry Ed but that idea and the flap were patented 7 years ago
  8. and withstand winter salt I have the parts to build one but not the time
  9. I would like to see on the market a super heavy duty bungee shock cord or Kinetic energy storing long strop that you could use to pull over back leaners quickly. Attach the strop high in the crown and then attach the other end to a standard tirfor, operate the tirfor to build up and store energy in the shock cord to a measured amount and then bore and release and the tree goes over in one fast sweeping motion and doesn't get chance to think about it A guage or measuring device can be placed between the tifor and anchor point to measure built up energy
  10. Its humans that need sorting Tony, nature gets on with it and accepts whatever comes along. Humans blame everybody and everything and go see solicitors In the right place such as in Daves past examples and with a good management plan no worries mate, but to me there's always the climber to consider if one has to come down eventually, or should I say rigged down, why delay, get the thing down and dont leave it till its weakened I had to do one this year, they had left it till it was totally dead, I warned them it needed to come down 2 years previous. Take em down earlier and plant multiple replacement trees is what I say, then there's more eco, habitat thingemibobs for the future
  11. I was going to suggest that I have seen some straps like that with like a thin outer sleeve that slides over, but if it isn't wearing it no worries, nice simple idea mate
  12. Doesn't the capstan wear the straps where they are fed through Tim ?
  13. Simple answer to that is the tree is going to come down anyway.. Replant another
  14. I dont think it is Ady doesn't, looking at those I dont think its marlow
  15. Why place the risk there though David. The family of the Huddersfield girl killed a couple of years ago may not share your sentiment If you stand at the side of the road long enough you may eventually get run over or you may not.
  16. Why prolong the agony ? The tree is going to come down whether on its own or with your help, if it's in a public place remove the risk, if its in a woodland let it be, people who walk through woodland should know there's a risk of being hit by deadwood anyway, only this would be a big lump
  17. I dont mean to be disrespectful Dadio but your in a bucket, why take the risk of damaging the shrubs the customer has specifically asked you not to damage ?? Cut and chuck small pieces man. You were extremely close to the shrub and hit it a few times I dont get what you are trying to portray, I could have done that job from my bucket with zero risk to shrubs and wager a weeks takings on no damage. In my opinion it was only down to pure luck not skill that you didn't trash the shrubs, sorry for the negativity dude
  18. Got his double braid , any idea what it is ? 16 strand polyester outer (I think) The inner braid is kevlar which is an 8 braid plait, but when stripped it looks like each plait is made up of two strands
  19. One of the gates is standard but the other is the longest single gate available and it took some transporting back home. It was half in the pickup and half protuding out the back, luckily I only had a mile to transport it
  20. I dont know Andy, things may have changed now but when I had a brand new Iveco 35.10 I took it to iveco and they told me that in europe they are rated for 5.5 ton but are plated down to 3.5t over here. The only difference was a rubber bump stop and something else on the suspension, in other words very easy to uprate back to 5.5t. I only used my iveco very locally and only on friday and sat and did less than 50 mile per week. They told me because I worked within a certain radius I could get tacho and operators license excempt or a specail one Now I know I am "specail" but I dont think they meant that All this was ten year ago so things could have changed
