Cheers for posting Charlie.... sounds a good saw.... So come on Plippy what's the 'G' stand for (as in 560XP and 560XPG).
  2. Not really sure what that means Dave - can you elaborate? If it's to say that well off people get more (i.e. through grants etc) then there may be some truth in that.... But from my experiences you need to really put the time in to see what's out there and what you can apply for. Look to see if you're in a RDPE area ARCHIVE: Defra UK; RDPE - Leader as I got a grant from them. But it's not a 5 minute job applying....
  3. To be fair we don't know that and he may well of offered if it had been someone bigger. He didn't start shouting or making a meal of it he just threw him off. He was backing up the authorities. There was force used but not violence. I can only say well done big man and if I see him I'll show him a valid ticket then buy him a pint!
  4. Hard to see from the pics but looks to have good colour. Can you get a few pics looking in to the trunk so you can see the sap ring and brown heartwood? Bit far for me but looks to be worth milling if someone is closer..
  5. I'm putting a vertically cutting mini mill up for grabs - works well with the alaskan.
  6. Still quiet round here for me at the mo with a couple of loads out a day....
  7. Good find Chris. I've started thinking more about quarter sawing.... today was planing some big oak boards and it was killing me moving them around and as they had distorted (but not much) half of it ended up as sawdust. Ref the mini mill I'm not sure I agree with him on that as I find it not as accurate as the horizontal mills and also harder work. And it is def not as accurate on big logs - that said really 25" bar should be the max you use. With a longer bar the flex causes the tip to wander.
  8. Pretty big gusts here at the moment and looking at the charts it's strong winds all the way to Saturday from now on! :scared1:
  9. I don't think it matters too much.... just vented sides, open front and slanting roof. Oh and a few pallets to keep the wood off the ground!
  10. I don't envy you - I gorged so much on conny bashing I'd not ever like to see another one again!
  11. Good vid... I imagine you have to be be accurate in judging the weight of each section in a job like this.
  12. I'd have not thought there would have been much of a market over here with the Forestry Journal and £5-00 does sound a bit steep.... I've not had one either
  13. Me think he doth protest too much?
  14. I dunno it seems to keep me going through the day!
  15. Me as well.... and all my deliveries are for repeat customers rather than new ones. There are a few in the paper mind you (around 13 people advertising locally)... Will be the first time I've not sold out before Chrimbo!
  16. Baby monkey, baby monkey, riding on that pig baby monkey... [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5_sfnQDr1-o]Baby Monkey (Going Backwards On A Pig) - Parry Gripp - YouTube[/ame]
  17. Yep no putting it on ebay!
  18. Hopefully he'll make a full recovery.
  19. I wasn't hungover I'm a pale miserable looking sod on most days! I'll be there for 2012 as the headaches nearly all gone...
  20. Thanks that was the idea to try and give a more realistic view of what the system actually does.
  21. I'd forward this to around 3.30 as most of the first part discusses changing the bar over. Summary on powersharp : It works It doesn't cut as fast as normal chain You can still knacker the chain hitting stones or metal. Cutting out roots will also knacker the chain! (then takes 3 to 5 sharpens to get it cutting again and even then doesn't cut like it does new). More expensive than normal cross cut chain Really for home owners that don't know how to sharpen their own chain. Still nice to see a new concept and manufacturers bringing new ideas to the table. 22. Thanks Morten
  23. Yes but just a couple though aye Justin (and see if you can't water them down a little... ). In fact maybe a half of Carlsberg would be better... loverly cold crisp Carlsberg Mark...
