Only just seen this cheerful thread! You bought the lo pro stuff. You broke it. You bleated about it. We refunded you. Who lost out? We don't want to do business with you again for obvious reasons. Most of those on this platform don't know best but there is a high probability they know more than you. The reason is they can entertain the fact that it could be them that is responsible for breaking something.

Looks really good - we'd love a smart metal option but it's hard enough us getting the existing parts made at moment... One plus is the new GB bars coming [sprocket nosed] should have the oilers already there as I appreciate it's a faff for people to drill the bar. The Panther nose guard will have holes to feed down into these. Really what we want is an oiler that pumps oil onto the bar as the chain goes round the sprocket ie. if the saw is running it pumps. Pretty much what a chainsaw does - but again midway on a massive list of 'jobs to do!'

If you run only x1 make of saw all is good and your chain sizes are all consistent. If you run different makes - then it becomes something of a pain! You'll never get the same guidebars to fit across different saws [this is looking at the 40-60cc range not the larger saws]. But you could get them all running the same size chain. Now that Stihl are making 3 or 4 chains in .325 .050 I wonder if anyone has switched all their small/mid range saws to .325 .050 chain? You could then have yourself a reel of chain to fit all the bars you are running.

Cracking me up was this 🤣 Miling spelt Millin I think would look better.

Nice we have a pretty good system these days - still make mistakes but they are getting fewer and farther between.

Probably you may have already noticed that there seems to be a shortage of many some type items. And because there is a shortage people are ordering more and buying more in advance to remain stocked. Echo 2511 TES is a good example - we now have rolling back orders on these which never get fully filled and now it's pretty much of 'send us as many as you can when ever you can'. But they are being 'rationed' among dealers... I would suggest to folks out there that they start to think well in advance in terms of what they need in terms of both day to day items and spares as right now I can only see things getting tighter in terms of supply. Our suppliers for bars are between 4-6 months lead time [this is from order to completion - it does not include the 6 weeks shipping and there are delays at ports as well]. And we are being told these times are going to get longer. We could see bar orders taking 9 months to 1 year from us ordering to getting them in. This used to me max 3-4 months in the past. We do have an incoming stock area here: Incoming stock - Chainsawbars WWW.CHAINSAWBARS.CO.UK Incoming stock. Click below to see what’s due in and when. Panther Mini BarsIncoming stock Sugihara BarsIncoming... One question we often get asked is do we do back orders - we don't for the following: Often when people order items in stock are mixed with items not in stock - it causes a lot of work and energy sorting these ie. Sir you ordered a bar which we don't have in stock for 8 weeks, but we can see you ordered x3 chains for this bar. Did you want the chains now or did you want the chains when the bar comes in? We are not getting accurate completion dates on what we have ordered - so once something is back ordered and we say 'here 20th March' customers will plan on having it then. If it doesn't come in then we have to contact the customer - inform them of next eta [customer is usually and understandably not happy about things buy now]. Lots more work and energy expended. Often back orders are pinned up but then missed once the import does finally arrive - then sells out quickly - the customer who has back ordered then needs to be told 'yes you did back order this, it did come in but we forgot your back order and now we have none left until next import - which by the way is 4 months away [if we are lucky]. You can imagine how that goes down... The other method we have is to join a wait list - and this works fairly well and the plug in seems to work - only thing to watch is that the product can get cleaned out once it is in [with all those who have joined the wait list getting an e-mail]

These saws can suffer from carb issues so if you really are struggling: 1) Did you register the saw with Echo when you bought it? You will need to have done this... [unless from us as we do it for the customer] 2) Call Ashley from Weston Garden Machinery 01934 626093 3) Or talk to whoever answers the phone and say 'please can I send my saw to you for Ashley to look at, cause I heard he is good on these' 4) Drain the saw of fuel and oil - add a note in to give DETAILS on what has happened ie. I bought the saw x, I have run on y fuel with z 2 stroke oil for the first 4 months it ran xxxxx but then it did this xxxxx. It is hair pulling when folk say 'my saw is not working that well can you help?'... 5) See point 4 and make sure you have added your name/address/phone number He will either fix it under warranty or call you to tell you what the issue is but either way it's where we send saws that are not running right and he always seems to put it right.

I don't think most even get the chance to see the other side being as most media outlets are obsessed with pushing the official view you don't see this on the mainstream news.

[Apologies I've somehow drawn a line through all this post and don't know why!!] Ok understood. But as you said the test and trace system was a farce and why did the contract get sent out un tendered and to agencies that seem to have government affiliations [SERCO for instance]? To my mind it doesn't make sense - it's easier to put this down to mis management than fraud. But it's fraud and it's criminal and it's in front of our eyes. Is it for some greater agenda? Is it so the some other agency can forward greater control over mankind? I reckon no need to worry about that bit - it's too messy. What we can pursue is where did £22 billion go last year when the NHS was crying out for more resources. And like a robot keep repeating and repeating this until the unsavory answers get pulled out. And get pulled out NOW not 10 years down the line when the next crisis over shadows the facts about the last one. Ref lock downs and shutting businesses down - this is not sustainable. So even if lockdowns work and closing businesses work - it is not sustainable. So even if they work - it is not sustainable!! This guy puts it better than I can and worth a few minutes to listen to. ‘We cannot cancel life to preserve every life’ – Tory MP Sir Charles Walker on lockdown – Channel 4 News

If you get a chance have a look at the £22 billion the gov spent on track and trace. The companies it went to and their in-direct affiliation with gov. And the shambles it turned out to be. Because that looks to me very much like these people are making serious decisions affecting millions with the intention to line their back pockets [and those they know].

It's hard to say if this is positive and depends on your view point. I don't believe in the vaccines as we don't have enough evidence to say whether they could have worse side effects than the virus itself. Over time we'll know if they are effective and/or if they have serious side effects. Until then it's hard to have an opinion whether the vaccines are a good thing or not.

Yep that's what I do [freehand] and it works pretty well.
-
Sorry about that - don't think I remember seeing a message or e-mail - if you tried phoning then no we're struggling to answer the phones mainly due to extra workload. But yep for some the Panther bars don't work out.

All the small mount Stihl bars will fit the Echo 2511. They have the gap that leads from the tension hole into the bar groove. And yes you need only to add a drive link and they work fine.
-
Life is a compromise - yes you can run easier to sharpen chain but it won't cut so well. But maybe the cutting would be ok so best thing is to try it and then make a decision as to what works best for you.

Yep correct it's a Sugi bar - and it only runs the Sugi A4S chain. A bit of a PITA as we still have a load of these bars almost 3 years old with no chain we can put on them. I still don't know why they did this other than the obvious if we make the chain exclusive to our bars then it'll force people to use it. Even more annoying the Sugi A4S does not run on the Stihl 1/4 picco sprockets like the MS150/151 has. But got a plan now for all the 10" Sugi bars we bought - going to get a load of 57 drive link Sugi chains and then you'll be able to use these on the Echo 2511s. We are ordering more of the Sugi A4S but looking at 6-7 months now production lead times [from 2 months before Covid times].

Yes correct and it's a lovely light tool and charges with a USB so easy to use in the field [as the battery doesn't last too long prob enough to do a long chain twice]

The Granberg Precision grinder is the best on the bar sharpening tool I've found - but it is not a perfect tool - I use it all the time to get the teeth right - but I'd love to make a similar sharpening tool that allows you to set the angles and height but you clip your battery dremel sharpener into it... But at the moment the Granberg grinder is the only powered grinder that allows you to sharpen on the bar and get it right. G1012XT Granberg Precision Grinder - Get better chain sharpening results WWW.CHAINSAWBARS.CO.UK Works off any 12v battery. Fast and accurate chain sharpening. Once familiarised very easy to use - clamps to the bar for...

Double ended milling set up - by yourself - is it possible?
Rob D replied to Rob D's topic in Panther Mill UK
They are confusing GB bars in terms of drive link count but it is still the cutting end on the sprocket nose bars but it is the full length of the bar on the double ended bars! -
Double ended milling set up - by yourself - is it possible?
Rob D replied to Rob D's topic in Panther Mill UK
Pretty much around 56" but I guess this is 4.5ft absolute max hence saying it may not be big enough to do a full 5' [you'll do 4' fine though]. -
This is such a PITA to get hold of - but we do have another stock. It's expensive as our previous source dried up but hey ho - if you're keen on trying this chain out then buy it here [we have in both full comp and skip link versions]. This also appears in the selectors with the other chains as well. You searched for 75c - Chainsawbars WWW.CHAINSAWBARS.CO.UK

The dremel is great with a diamond stone - I don't use the chain sharpening head but do it freehand - super fast but not accurate. Certainly the best I have found for speed while out in the woods. Diamond stones are here Grinding stones - Chainsawbars WWW.CHAINSAWBARS.CO.UK Click here to go back to the chain sharpening tools menu I know this is not the Dremel but since then I upgraded to the Dremel!

Double ended milling set up - by yourself - is it possible?
Rob D replied to Rob D's topic in Panther Mill UK
Thanks - yep she's a proper 6 footer - planks came out really flat as well with virtually no cupping. -
Had a big Macra Carpa to do for someone and really wanted to see if there was a way of double ended milling by yourself - note this is not a 'how to' video. It is an experimental way which we'll now work on to make safer. 1) You need a way to get the mill on and off the log - the supports I put need to be better thought out ie. with a spike that bites into the log as otherwise it can rotate 2) Pulling on the throttle worked well with the winch - however this is an experimental type set up - so it's not something we can advise doing. More to see if you did have some basic throttle control of the opposite saw would it work. 3) .404 ripping chain did not seem to like cutting this fibrous soft wood so switched to 3/8 75EXL full chisel chain [non ripping usual 30 degree angle] and this worked far better. Taking the top slab off with a 64" lo pro bar with Stihl PMX chain did work though [and I would have stuck with that if the log were not so big] - so it's not easy to answer the 'which chain is best' question - as it varies so much.
