  1. Sorry about that - don't think I remember seeing a message or e-mail - if you tried phoning then no we're struggling to answer the phones mainly due to extra workload. But yep for some the Panther bars don't work out.
  2. All the small mount Stihl bars will fit the Echo 2511. They have the gap that leads from the tension hole into the bar groove. And yes you need only to add a drive link and they work fine.
  3. Life is a compromise - yes you can run easier to sharpen chain but it won't cut so well. But maybe the cutting would be ok so best thing is to try it and then make a decision as to what works best for you.
  4. Yep correct it's a Sugi bar - and it only runs the Sugi A4S chain. A bit of a PITA as we still have a load of these bars almost 3 years old with no chain we can put on them. I still don't know why they did this other than the obvious if we make the chain exclusive to our bars then it'll force people to use it. Even more annoying the Sugi A4S does not run on the Stihl 1/4 picco sprockets like the MS150/151 has. But got a plan now for all the 10" Sugi bars we bought - going to get a load of 57 drive link Sugi chains and then you'll be able to use these on the Echo 2511s. We are ordering more of the Sugi A4S but looking at 6-7 months now production lead times [from 2 months before Covid times].
  5. Yes correct and it's a lovely light tool and charges with a USB so easy to use in the field [as the battery doesn't last too long prob enough to do a long chain twice]
  6. The Granberg Precision grinder is the best on the bar sharpening tool I've found - but it is not a perfect tool - I use it all the time to get the teeth right - but I'd love to make a similar sharpening tool that allows you to set the angles and height but you clip your battery dremel sharpener into it... But at the moment the Granberg grinder is the only powered grinder that allows you to sharpen on the bar and get it right. G1012XT Granberg Precision Grinder - Get better chain sharpening results WWW.CHAINSAWBARS.CO.UK Works off any 12v battery. Fast and accurate chain sharpening. Once familiarised very easy to use - clamps to the bar for...
  7. They are confusing GB bars in terms of drive link count but it is still the cutting end on the sprocket nose bars but it is the full length of the bar on the double ended bars!
  8. Pretty much around 56" but I guess this is 4.5ft absolute max hence saying it may not be big enough to do a full 5' [you'll do 4' fine though].
  9. This is such a PITA to get hold of - but we do have another stock. It's expensive as our previous source dried up but hey ho - if you're keen on trying this chain out then buy it here [we have in both full comp and skip link versions]. This also appears in the selectors with the other chains as well. You searched for 75c - Chainsawbars WWW.CHAINSAWBARS.CO.UK
  10. The dremel is great with a diamond stone - I don't use the chain sharpening head but do it freehand - super fast but not accurate. Certainly the best I have found for speed while out in the woods. Diamond stones are here Grinding stones - Chainsawbars WWW.CHAINSAWBARS.CO.UK Click here to go back to the chain sharpening tools menu I know this is not the Dremel but since then I upgraded to the Dremel!
  11. Thanks - yep she's a proper 6 footer - planks came out really flat as well with virtually no cupping.
  12. Had a big Macra Carpa to do for someone and really wanted to see if there was a way of double ended milling by yourself - note this is not a 'how to' video. It is an experimental way which we'll now work on to make safer. 1) You need a way to get the mill on and off the log - the supports I put need to be better thought out ie. with a spike that bites into the log as otherwise it can rotate 2) Pulling on the throttle worked well with the winch - however this is an experimental type set up - so it's not something we can advise doing. More to see if you did have some basic throttle control of the opposite saw would it work. 3) .404 ripping chain did not seem to like cutting this fibrous soft wood so switched to 3/8 75EXL full chisel chain [non ripping usual 30 degree angle] and this worked far better. Taking the top slab off with a 64" lo pro bar with Stihl PMX chain did work though [and I would have stuck with that if the log were not so big] - so it's not easy to answer the 'which chain is best' question - as it varies so much.
  13. Yep it can fit but sometimes needs an extra drive link - I need to list all the Panther Mini under Makita but basically all the Echo ones fit Makita Panther mini bars for Echo - Chainsawbars WWW.CHAINSAWBARS.CO.UK
  14. The smaller top handled and battery saws are all mainly excellent but the chain and bar combos they run are getting harder to understand by the day! Latest is the MSA161T and MSA161 C-B which sport a 10 tooth drive sprocket [assuming this is for extra chain speed]. But the disadvantage is this means you have to use a chain with an extra drive link over and above what is listed on the bar. 8" - usually 50 drive links = 51 drive links for the MSA161 10" - usually 56 drive links = 57 drive links for the MSA161 etc etc We've set this up on chainsawbars to reflect this and a short video here:
  15. More high level corruption if you ask me. Not looked at this... - I'm sticking to the £22 billion that seems to have directly en riched people that are associated with the gov and linked to COVID as with that it seems clear that there is a much higher level of hypocrisy present.
  16. Apparently all the data gathered against Serco is 'fake'
  17. Yep - what gets me is the BBC and other news is all about getting us to point fingers at each other blaming various different groups for increasing corona numbers - yet high level blatant corruption is right there under our noses. £22 billion - I'm just going to keep saying it! Forget Tory and Labour and all the rest - this is in our faces corruption at the highest level.
  18. From what I gather this is the CEO a Rupert Soames - not doing badly for himself: Glad to see things are back on track Rupert - good show!
  19. At the very best it is incompetence - at the worst it is allowing some people linked to gov to directly enrich themselves. What will happen? - further down the road an enquiry - someone they don't like will be made the scapegoat - none of the money will be returned and everyone will forget about it. But I'm not going to! Save the NHS!! - £22 billion would allow you to find a very large number of professional healthcare workers and Nightingale type units. How can you trust gov on the health side of things when there is this much blatant incompetence and corruption that is there for everyone to see. Below is biased and when I have some time I'll try and do some background research to see if the facts pan out. Led By Donkeys - The Great Pandemic Robbery. How so much... | Facebook
  20. Yep but £22 billion we're talking here - the £35k per annum for nurses was a rough estimate [got online!]. But £22 frigging billion!! It's a staggering amount of money and for what? I mean how many people can you feed and home for that cash! And this is only only the track and trace - what about the rest of 'it'! I'm going to stay stuck on it for a while - I don't get why this is not all over the news every day - no way that money has gone to legitimate contractors...
  21. Someone told me this the other day 'Track and Trace system cost £22 billion. 'Yeh right' I said no way they could have done that... but it seems true. Please tell me it isn't! From a brief look there are 300,000 registered nurses in the UK - so take that number and multiply by let's say £35k for the year = £10.5 billion. So this is TWICE as much as the entire registered UK nurse payroll for the entire year?! That's insane isn't it! Feel free to dispute the above figures as would like to be proved wrong. Spending watchdog urges government to ‘stop throwing money’ at NHS Test and Trace - CityAM : CityAM WWW.CITYAM.COM The UK’s spending watchdog has urged ministers to “stop throwing money” at NHS Test and Trace, after the...
  22. Have looked up the info on the BBL we got and it says 2.5% which seems pretty good to me. Pretty hard to say or judge who should have had this £ or not. Should we [as in chainsawbars!] have got it? I dunno - we are busier than ever but the supply shortages/longer production times/difficulty shipping have meant we've had to make larger orders/pay more up front/wait longer for them to arrive... is that good enough a reason 🤷‍♂️ If that money has been plugged directly into businesses I can't see it as a bad thing even it some of it does get spent on non essentials or luxuries. For the most part if you own a small business you'll be like myself and it will have gone into improving that business. That in turn will have gone into other peoples businesses.
  23. Cheers Mike - yep it's a balancing act - too thick a skin brings on a sense of self righteousness which is a path to arrogance. Too thin a skin and you feel hurt and upset and it effects your life more than it should. Trick is to try and walk a line between them which is harder to do than it seems 😏
  24. Thanks all and appreciate the support - I think that for some folks out there it doesn't seem to work out well ordering online for whatever reasons and it is best to stick with the local dealer. Or alternate between the two as there are pros and cons with both.. We put in a new stock system 6 months ago - it's still not perfect but getting better so most of the time if it says it's there - it is there and if it's not we'll always try and offer an alternative. I'll do a separate thread on how this works as unless you are into e-commerce it's very very boring. Arbtalk has been one of the largest and best ingredients in helping put us where we are today and that's down to Steve Bullman and you lot and I probably don't say it much but a heartfelt thanks for choosing us to spend your [I know from experience] hard earned ££ with us.
