  1. Jon have left a message for you - you didn't get your discount but have put free stones in to make up for this! So your discount is set now but you haven't missed out on this last order.
  2. Just sort it out with me if there's a problem.... the only thing that seems to happen over time is the little yellow belt inside needs replacing...
  3. It's going to be this evening so final chance!
  4. It's great stuff is that - really refreshing!
  5. Send me a PM if you like and maybe we could do a deal! Let me know what chain you are after - I also have the oregon breakers and rivet spinners.
  6. Ditto - there's no way that the wood will be 16% in that short space of time. Also as also said winter felled ash will have less water content then now...
  7. If you count the drive links you can pick any chain here Custom chain loops If you're not sure which part are the drive links they are the bits that sit inside the bar... and there are links on the above page to help ID the chain you have,
  8. Bumping - hopefully that'll get you a few transport offers
  9. All I know is that the exchange rate is at a low again, we don't produce much of anything to export (compared to olden times)..... where's the old British Bulldog when you need him? Prob on housing benefit, smoking a doobie and saying he'd love to go back to work but with his back health and safety would never let him... The data last week from the U.K. was dismal, manufacturing and industry numbers were both very poor - sterling was sold as the components were released. Mervyn King, Britains central bank boss talked the U.K. economy up and cable (slang for GBP/US rate) moved away from a 33-month low against the greenback. From the states their retails sales numbers shrugged off higher taxes to boost retail spending - U.S. CPI increased 0.7 percent, the largest gain since the summer of 2009.
  10. As a shameless self promotion but this is really what my website aims to help tell people - what chains are available and how they differ. Put you chainsaw and bar length in here Chains and it will tell you the chains on offer. If you have a 10" bar it looks like it's the 1.1mm or .043 guage chain you are after so only really a couple of options. If you want to know more about the chains then have a look here http://www.chainsawbars.co.uk/media/documents/chain-info.pdf and there is more details on each one. It's a pdf, takes a while to download and I'd love to have it hosted online but that's not possible at the mo...
  11. Just bumping this for you - hope you get an offer... ....but I'd say you'd do well to get it removed for free. If it was near me I'd arrange collection but I'd never pay for redwood.
  12. Some really nice figured pieces of wood there... do you have plans on what you'll do with them?
  13. 2 brothers who are also me best mates
  14. I think it may be just the people you've met - I haven't met any good climbers who think they are good - if you see what I mean!
  15. Looks excellent - great to see new innovation and design like this - I shall be buying one!
  16. They look nice boards Simon but knowing what oak like this dries like I think you'll get a lot of cracks and fissures develop as they dry - you always do! £65-00 a cube - if these boards dry well then prob they would be worth that - but would you be able to sell them at that? Not sure as like everything it's finding a buyer.
  17. As it happens I do sell them although not sure what I have at the moment - but I think they are cheaper on ebay - 180mm velcro sanding discs | eBay as I don't really buy in enough quantity to get a large enough discount. Just get a 180mm backing pad and then packs of 120g, 240g 400g 180mm velcro discs.... they get the wood like glass and it is fast to do it too. But the discs are cheap and cheerful and you go through them like smarties!! But you want that big dewalt sander/polisher as on a non variable speed grinder it's far too fast.... Dewalt DWP849X For rough edges that arbotach turbo planer is fantastic...
  18. I think all in all it works well. A tip I learnt in the early days is you don't need to post everything you write... and re read what you have written before posting it. But it's the best forum IMO and on the whole very supportive and has been and still is good for my business and source of info.

    346xp

Oregon do them and I have them. Go here and put in 346 to get the options. Sprockets
  20. You can buy a spare nose sprocket if you like they are £16.20+vat after arbtalk discount and I will be listing here Products for the category: Bar maintenance tools Rob
  21. Good answer Alec Start off with - what are you going to do with the timber? As this has a large bearing on how you go about drying it. Also have a good search through this forum as this has been covered several times and will answer a lot of questions.
  22. Finally I'm not sure what variable grinder you have there but it looks like the variable speed DT8-117 dewalt one...? I bought x2 of these - they got hot when in use - both had to go back in the first year to have a module (can't remember exact name of it) replaced.... they worked for another 3 months and now one of them has packed in again... But they are handy for the variable speed control and they are lighter than the larger dewalt one... but can't seem to cope with long periods of hard use like the larger one.
  23. A few pics of my powerplane - it is very good and although expensive should pay for itself - debarked the side of this yew plank in around 3 minutes... now just needs to be finish sanded.
  24. Nicely done - I got one of these and it's another great tool to have in the armory.... much better in wet wood as it struggles a bit in dry wood but also amazing for taking bark of yew... I'm going to look through other threads as I'm sure you answered this but what's the reason for boiling it? Ref sanding - I've done a huge amount of the years with different tools - best thing I have found is the dewalt DWP849X - around £100-00, reliable, used with cheap velcro 4.5" and 7" sanding pads and discs. And the most useful thing - it has a variable speed control.
  25. Ha ha! They are attractive and the finish holds well - like the missus you notice when the first couple of wrinkles and scratches appear but then as they add up you stop worrying about it:lol:
