  1. Good answer Alec Start off with - what are you going to do with the timber? As this has a large bearing on how you go about drying it. Also have a good search through this forum as this has been covered several times and will answer a lot of questions.
  2. Finally I'm not sure what variable grinder you have there but it looks like the variable speed DT8-117 dewalt one...? I bought x2 of these - they got hot when in use - both had to go back in the first year to have a module (can't remember exact name of it) replaced.... they worked for another 3 months and now one of them has packed in again... But they are handy for the variable speed control and they are lighter than the larger dewalt one... but can't seem to cope with long periods of hard use like the larger one.
  3. A few pics of my powerplane - it is very good and although expensive should pay for itself - debarked the side of this yew plank in around 3 minutes... now just needs to be finish sanded.
  4. Nicely done - I got one of these and it's another great tool to have in the armory.... much better in wet wood as it struggles a bit in dry wood but also amazing for taking bark of yew... I'm going to look through other threads as I'm sure you answered this but what's the reason for boiling it? Ref sanding - I've done a huge amount of the years with different tools - best thing I have found is the dewalt DWP849X - around £100-00, reliable, used with cheap velcro 4.5" and 7" sanding pads and discs. And the most useful thing - it has a variable speed control.
  5. Ha ha! They are attractive and the finish holds well - like the missus you notice when the first couple of wrinkles and scratches appear but then as they add up you stop worrying about it:lol:
  6. Just bumping the thread - I'm sure there will be a taker out there near you.
  7. Great pics - I was looking for a vid a few months back just to see how springboards 'work' - what sort of cut you make, what the end of the boards look like etc... but no joy... Any links kindly accepted

    What a tree!
  9. What a great project - well done to those involved and happy cycling Rob!
  10. No worrys - will keep it this week and hopefully all those thinking about one will buy now.
  11. Also the larger depth guage reducing stones are now back in stock... 5/16" and also larger 3/8". Products for the category: Grinding stones
  12. Due to a price increase and exchange decrease (now only $1.46 to the £1!!!!) going to have to put up the price of the precision grinders.... from £49.50+vat to £59.50+vat. This will be end of the week. You'll still get your 10% off and I'm also going to add a free pack of stones in with each grinder from now on to make up for this (after the price rise is in effect) so if you want one get one now at the old price minus 10%. 13. Hi Chris - no these 15" bars cannot be used with the oregon .325 lo pro chain (95vpx)... I'd need to get some bars with the same mount but the guage would have to be .050 and same for the nose. Interestingly (to me anyway ) Sugihara are the only manufacturer to match the nose sprocket guage to the bar guage i.e. for Oregon Powermatch bars they are all .063 whereas the husky sugi replaceable noses are .058 and the stihl ones .063.
  14. Got the last few bags going out this week - horray! I quite enjoy the producing of logs but not the delivering!
  15. That's come out perfick
  16. Yep - you get 10% of all products on that website.
  17. Very good size boards - as Jon said I've also tended to go for more quarter sawn/rift size boards for easier handling and less moving... ... but still do the wide ones for picnic benches.
  18. Only have the 36" for a 660 Pete... they are £97-20+vat to arbtalkers.
  19. Hope so - they are designed for arborists but still a good one to use on a small ground saw running 3/8 lop pro. If they work out well will also get a 12" version exactly the same as this one.
  20. This should now be added i.e. select 550XP, 15", Sugihara - have you signed up on the site yet? You need to do this first so I can set your discount. Also now set up for chains selector. Rob
  21. Stop the press! Reply from oregon rep is: 'Rob the drum is a square version and is at present available only from Husky Justin can supply!' So maybe best just to go to Jonsie..... (FR Jones and son) to get this.
  22. Just give me a few minutes Andy and I will get this added then update the thread. Rob
  23. Oregon selector guide as here: OREGON®: Selector Guide
  24. Seems now (or maybe I didn't look properly before...) to be showing in the oregon selector guide. Put in a 346 for now to get the right result.
  25. We forgot to talk about the rim and sprocket Josh! But no word from oregon so can only assume you'll have to get a Husky one.... which I don't sell but will send another e-mail and keep pestering....
