  1. Brief was down to the height of "those trees over there" and back to the boundrey. Not the sort of job you want a signwritten van on. Thankfully it was some years ago and I had nearly forgoton about it.......Cheers Pete:biggrin:
  2. Cheers fellas...... got them. Not heard back after quoting a week ago by email. So assuming it's a non starter.
  3. Yes mate....."You Know":scared1:
  4. Quality stuff Reg. Great teamwork....bet that was even more awkward than it looked.
  5. I need to price a job in Woolwich (South London) Need to get rid of timber (pop + Syc) and woodchip in local area. Also need to hire 8"+ inch chipper for one day. Stump Grinder for one day. Any one in the know.
  6. Tell them you will post 'your experience' with their company on Arbtalk.......Most of us use the same insurers.
  7. After seeing that lot.....I'm looking forward to my two Sycamore reductions today:sad:
  8. Mine's is Ash. Done a tree yesterday that had two large branches fail. I always find it a mission climbing around them....particularly when there isn't a decent cental stem. Here it is.
  9. Nice to see people willing to spend money getting the most out of a tree like that. Hopefully the old girl will push out some new shoots for a few years yet. Any thoughts on the 'die back' Steve.....Doesn't look particularly old (for an Oak).
  10. Totally agree....What I am saying is that the "equivalent alternative" will need to show that they have the same checks ie. LOLER, First Aid, Insurance, Quals bla bla bla.........as an AA contractor/consultant. The COUNCIL will then need to use valuable time checking that all of these documents are actually valid and in date, in order that they are not liable should something go pearshaped. Much easier to say that the AA assure the quality of these contractors/consultants 'your honour'....speak to them.
  11. I'm betting the council cannot be 4rsed doing the paperwork checks themselves, and so choosing an aa contractor/consultant is the best option for them......"it's easy" Not saying I agree with it - but it would make sense.
  12. Ohhhh.....and I forgor to mention. You can get a full size dining room table in the cab, and still get two carvers and four seats round it.....for those rainy days:thumbup:
  13. I had a Dodge 50 4x4 for about 3 years Dean. Was ex utility so had winch already fitted. I converted the box body on it by cutting down a 7.5 ton tipper body. Was an awsome tool. . . . .And would tow a big chipper. Bought it for about £1500 and cost me about the same to convert it. Downside was that it would not do more than 55mph. Had a Perkins 4.2 Diesel Here's a photo
  14. BFG will definitley last longer and has harder wearing side walls.
  15. Thanks for the comments fellas.....all appreciated.
  16. Concentration to the max on that one. bet you slept well that night.
  17. Dan's weapon of choice on Chestnut. I wasn't wasting much energy sipping tea and taking the photo's:tee:
  18. Very nice work Matty.
  19. Spot on.....As a Fly Fisherman, I have had many a smoked trout/salmon.
  20. The last council I worked for did 'NOT' require planning for works to a tree overhanging property belonging to a third party..........But not this one. Nowadays I just put in planning no matter what, as I do not need the grief. Unfortunately, I no longer have a helpful TO on the end of a phone.
  21. I know exactly what you're saying Steve. ......Could, should, may, appears etc.
  22. Got a request from an owner saying he needed a tree report with recommendations for remedial surgery. He had cut the tree overhanging his property without planning and the council told him to sort it out or face a fine (They wanted to see the specification first). As you can see from the photo he left lots of stubs. All we could do was take it back to the next branch junction which on most of it was the main stem. The photo below is my son Dan just tidying up. Not great but the best we could do. The owner can be greatful the council were in a good mood that day.
