  9. I had access platform......Top branches are overhanging outbuilding. Took none of them off lowering it on it's own stem,,,,but thought better of it. So decided on a fell. We had two trees to do this is the other one.
  10. My thoughts entirley:mad1:
  11. No bad thing as far as I am concerned. The work by most companies around me is crap. It therefore takes them less time to do it, which means they charge less. Which in todays climate matters.
  12. Lets Just say I did not go through highways and the paramedic rocks up en route to an emergency (or an ambulance with someone in the back)........**** could have hit the fan.
  13. The decision was for the safety of the public and ourselves. A stem failed last week and ended up on the road. You can just see it where the rope is coiled. Heres a couple of phots. Will post more later.
  14. NO MISUNDERSTANDING the paramedic was not made aware that the road was to be closed and was on his way to another job. We had to divert him.
  15. Not Happy. Today we had to take the remainder of a beech tree down. To cut a long story short it was safer to fell the remaining stem across a road. Phoned highways who said they would inform the emergency sevices but we had to close the road ourselves. Got an invoice from highways for £140 by email by the time I got home. We closed the road I got the gob and backcut in. Tree is only held by winch. Paramedic turns up with blue flashers on?????????/ What was the £140 for:mad1: Do you pay for this service?????????
  16. Unlucky ross, if it's any consolation we had a great day mate.........and the lads got £20 quid tip each.
  17. it is indeed a lesson to us all.......most of us do it. Keep safe folks....and good effort on reminding us all
  18. Good Skills Fellas.....Pitty about the outcome tho....was a lovely tree.
  19. I can't wait to see Dean's reply to this:sneaky2:
  20. When you're decending on your prussic in the pissing rain........and the water from the rope is pouring down your forearm.
  21. On a 'scale' of one to ten that's a good fishy joke
  22. Splices for me
