  2. Greater explanation of the 40 day workout by Dan John....from Dan John. Mark, here is a more detailed explanation of this.
  3. Mark, The problem is that getting pumped up muscles like arnie and being strong are completely different? Do you want to look strong? - straight out GQ mag. Or do you want to be strong?? you need to get away from the idea of training your muscles and train your nervous system. Nervous system training is all about training the body to contract harder against force. This idea of beat up the muscles hard once ot twice the week and then rest to repair is such a western way of training is leads to inflammation and slow progress. You don't need to rest whe training 10 reps everyday as you are never going near you max and only doing 10 reps. - Olympic lifters agree that you only have 10 good reps in you per session. Isometrics teach your body how to contract harder but squezzing something hard for 7 - 10secs everyday - and you can get incredible strong bt doing this ( read up on Alexander Zass ) this training is similar but you are going through range of motion. = greasing a groove. the funny thing is that when you learn how to become really strong...it comes easy. Think about this- most of the incredible physiques are athletes - sprinters, gymnasts, american footballers etc..do you think they work so hard in gym that there muscles are sore for a day or 2 after?. you think a gymnast ot sprinter can afford to take a day or 2 off to rest muscles so he can hit them hard again? NO. An athelete needs to practice there sport daily and needs to be strong and fresh for it...so they train daily but stay away from maximum. Sounds complicated..but its not. train as often as possible while as fresh as possible , lifting heavy with low reps and stay away from max.
  4. would like to see him climb with rope and harness ..i bet he makes it look like childs play.
  5. Mark, Do 10 reps every day - takes 5 mins to do. either 2 x 5, 4,3,2,1 or 5 x 2, 4,3,2 etc etc. these will ned to be weighted and stay away from maxing out ( do 90% as your max once a week and still leave 2 reps in the bag ) Try this for 40 days and you will be dipping your body weight in no time. Its volume training which teaches yoour nervous system the correct pattern. Plus side is you will always feel strong and not tired out sore muscles from overtraining ( strong for climbing 7 days a week ) Neg side is that it is hard just to do 10reps as a week in you are itching to lift heavier ( but don't ) as lifting 100% just wrecks you nervous system and can take up to 2 weeks to recover fully. Powerlifters, olympic weight lifters and gymnasts all know this and never go near there max when training - once in a blue moon they give it 100%. Oh yeah - keep wrists and shoulders in check with good dynamic warm-up.
  6. Anyone know any good websites that do Canter parts?
  7. owning a landrover with a snorkel and offroad tyres which is always sparkling clean because the most offroad it does is going through a pothole reduces testosterone levels by 50% and increases estrogen by 95%. Honestly i read it it somewhere. No lies!

  10. what about scotland? could do with couple days here and there to fill in.
  11. good find. ouch!!!! I wouldn' say it was groundsman fault. he might hve been inexperienced and it would be climbers fault for letting him do the roping. What the groundsman should have dine it just let it run but you can see by the way he is trying to feed the rpe through his hands that ther is either to my wraps or doesn't know to lt it run.
  12. Yeah . traditional wedding knife for kilts.

  17. Good vid. 2/3 may be the industry standard but somtimes that rule must be bent depending on the issues with the tree. Here is an oak cabled and supported in motherwell. The Covenanters Oak - Past Project
  18. Thats great. Good to see that the Polish arb Industry is growing. I seen some big trees when i was out there last.

  21. Can you get get someone to sponser him to stay here? If he is a skilled worker and can bring something to the country maybe you or someone you know can sponser him to stay here and give him employment. Don't know how it works here but thats how is worked in usa when i was there. Just a thought.
  22. - Traditional Loggers. Getting paid at end of every job is something i need to start doing. I always email my invoices for sake of keeping track on computer but i end up being buys to email them for sometimes couple weeks. Looking into carbon copy nvoice books this week so i don't have to spend a day invoicing everyone once a month.
  23. ! ths looks like a good attachment for it.
  24. Nice. could do with one of those. How much and can you pick them up second hand easily?
  25. Marketing is important for a starter company. Trial and error - I spent a fortune on yellow pages...and got 1 call!!!!. I made up hundreds of flyers and handed them out in good area..not even 1 call! While a website can bring in a decent percentage of work and it doesn't involve using time and energy chasing work. Sign writing van will get you noticed and you don't need to pay for it every year. Local newspapers are ok also but can be expensive over a long period. Business cards are must and hand them out with every invoice. I even have fridge magnet business cards that i give to loyal costumers who pass my number on often. Many ways to advertise ...but find out whats most cost effective first.
