  1. looks like it can be felled no??
  2. See i'm all confused now. In our garden we have an ash. it always comes into leaf after every other tree in the neighbourhood and always drops its leaves last. Maybe this tree is special!!
  3. Holy ****!!! sorry steve!
  4. doh. yeah its the other way around. Ash before oak get a soak, oak before ash get a splash. etc Verticillium wilt makes leaves fall on green trees ?
  5. ash usally drop there leaves last. All ash trees i have seen up here are still fully green. strange.
  6. good to see someone being creative and trying new things. notch could have been a little bigger..as it looked like it ended being more of a snap cut. good job though.
  7. .....
  8. Came across this today. A websote for Men. How to do anything. from wreste a croc, fell a tree to training and surival skills. real good site!! Manly Skills | The Art of Manliness
  9. 1 teaspoon of coffee will raise your cortisol levels for 24 hrs. anymore than that and you are messing up your hormones etc.
  10. If i was single and not running my own biz i would be booking my flight just now. 4.30 - early finnish, flat and accom. Can't believe you ain't getting climbers fighting over this position.
  11. Nice pics. Can i ask why is was taken down by climbing? Ganoderma all over base ..would it not have be less risky to just fell tree?
  12. whoever called you out invoice. Simple. Would have done it for free if the owner was a nice person...but you say she was ungrateful? so bill them.
  13. If you do it for free ..you will get to keep the firewood right??
  14. wow. Different class. So Smooth and controlled.
  15. I know plenty of people that use there climbing rope to pull over the stems. Sure not best practice.
  16. Interesting thread. Never thought about this much until now. I suppose the easiest way would be a running bowline which can be re-positioned easily after every cut when chogging down, Not sure about using climbing rope to pull over stems often though:thumbdown:. It would be ideal to switch you climbing line with bull rope for pulling over but do this from gound after decending from climbing line. Actually Srt system does look best for this as you can retrieve from ground easily right?
  17. Cool. I think it rains in san dieog like 2 weeks a year or something right? Really miss the sunshine and Burrito's!
  18. Good to hear they are helping. I find training with them counter acts sore muscles you get from tree work. I used to train so fricken hard that it took me days to recover, I made gains very slowly and looked white and weak most of the time. Even though i was able to lift heavy my bodies's imune system was weak due to adrenal fatigue and over training.
  19. All i'm saying that about 80% of people out there are damaging there body from training rather than improving. Best to pic up pavels books and save yourself an injury. Pavel who took kettlebells to western world is classed as a master of sports which is a important rank in russia. If you read one of his many books you will see that he states often that training on the nerve ( CNS) is not the way to go. I suppose you could relate tree work and training very similar. if you have little knowledge of tree fungi and diseases and you climb often you might get badly injured one day by not knowing VTA. If you doing strength and fitness training and just jump onto the bandwagon like everyone else and don't do your research on human anatomy, Stretching, Diet, Over training, Central Nervous System to say a few then you will prob have an Injury also - Slipped disc, damaged cartilige on knee from incorrect form, Adrenal Fatigue leading to Weak Immune system etc
  20. Just all little advice for training programs. Doing more than 5 exercises per training session is counter productive. If you are newbie in training with kettlebells or bars / dumbells who should be doing 4 compound exercises per training session max and maybe some ab work. E.g - if you can't press a 32k kettlebell for 10 reps or can't do double body weight squats. Example workout should look like this- Kettlebells - swings - 5 sets between 15 - 20 or until form goes bad. Snatches - 5 sets of either lows reps or high reps. 5 to 20. Front kb squats - 5 x 5 tgu 6 sets. This is more than enough for workout unless you want to do every move in the book to get a waist like a chick. must read - pavels books on kettlebell training or you will just get injured or waste time and energy. Training is a science and if you do not train smart you won't just not make gains..you will put you body in a state of rapid aging and damage your skelaton etc. do 5 exercises max per session and focus on quality if you want to become strong or fit. Please go to http://www.dragondoor.com and read up before training. A little knowledge is a dangerous thing when it comes to strength and fitness as well as tree work.
  21. cool pics jeff. Where abouts in san diego are you based? stayed there for couple years and worked out by la jolla etc. stayed in la mesa. Really enjoyed working on the many eucs that are out there.
  22. Started to really get into milling and making benches etc lately. Just wondering how you exp guys manage to get to colour of the wood to come through and have such a fine finnish? Was thinking about using belt sander to get rid of rough spot then hand sand a bit before applying danish oil ....anything i am missing? any tips? Also any good books on how to put rustic furniture together? Cheers.
  23. if ladybirds are feeding of the aphids..would it not be better to add more ladybirds ?
  24. mmm. read his books. interesting! i think we all have our beliefs and should stop trying to convert others that our way is the right way etc. ' A closed mind is a mind that can not grow ' this applies to the religious community and the scientific. As far as i'm concerned science has worked such a strong point regarding evolution..but that doesn't mean it was not all created to happen. As for the holy books i think they are a good read also, like dawkins books and lord of the rings etc.
  25. came across this last year and bought album. he has even better tracks on youtube and always gets a big crowd going.
