  2. I just changed from Prussik last week to Hitch climber with Swabish. I weight around 15.5 stone and suffer from pain in wrists due to climbing. Done my first climb on it yesterday and could not beleive how easy it was. and this was removed a 60ft Leylandi. took a little bit getting used to and need to dress to knot more often..but far more better + i don't have sore joints today!
  3. Freelance climber and groundsman needed this Friday for crown lifting work in Glasgow. May lead to further work. Please call to discuss. Martyn. 07872147453

  6. Hi Marcin,

Can you tell me if tree work is well paid in poland? and if there is any good companies to work for?

    Many thanks.

  7. Nice vid Robert. Looked like a good day for it.
  8. 200t is far better, I dropped my new 201t from 2ft other day and it smashed to pieces...so i throught the bar and new chain onto my 200t. the 200t is much more powerfull an was cutting through wood like butter. I have been using the 201t for couple months now and was suprised at how good the 200t is in compared to it. also whats it this new size combi key about.? whats the point of that. Stihl are will have us using battery operated chainsaws in 10 years time.
  9. when i worked in the states i always wore cargo trousers and boots from walmart. oh yeah never wore a helmet much either. my ppe was sunglasses. Just the way they work in the heat.
  10. Very confident fell Dadio. Intrested set-up. though i would have at least stopped the traffiic at rear for a minute while you done the fell. maybe winching over would have been better. got it down safely. weel done.
  11. that was cool. skillfull esp with no spikes. cosidering its russia..the ppe was not bad.
  12. all i could find on net was crane signals or rope access signals. heres an example. needed changed to fit tree work. Hand Signals
  13. jokes aside. Yeah its good to have a groundie that knows what you need before you do...but thats not always the case. i often have guys who come help out and are not used to the way we work. when it tap my helmet for ' heads up ' they just look at my funny. I think there should be a hand signal at work training given at all colleges as most of the newbies will be working on ground when they start work. we can all get buy tying tools on with granny knot as we can get by with basic hand signals..but would it not be better to use a sheet bend and have hand signals that are universal? if you catch my drift.
  14. Standard Hand Signals for Crane Operation heres a link to hands signals for crane workers. us version. Could we not have something similar? I think there should be set hand signals for developed for tree work in uk and taught in colleges.
  15. I can't believe what i am reading. the old school tree workers used to have clear hand signals and today even the crane operators still use them and they are part of test to be a rigger when working with cranes. so are british tree surgeons just to good for this type of thing??
  16. No Contructive replies then?? I remember when i worked in the states, starting out as a groundsman. There was a big poster with all these hand signals on the office wall. the groundsman had to learn how to do checks on truck every morning, learn hand signals and get all gear sorted first thing in morning. hand signals are good for reversing and tree work in general.
  17. I have arborcoms. but batteries die in radios and sometimes you forget them. Hand signals are very important for safety and just more ammunition to use.
  18. I am going to print out hand signals for tree work and put in truck for groundsman to learn. This is what i've got so far - please feel free to add. 1/ Tap helmet - watch out, keep clear. 2/ slash throat - turn off chipper / chainsaws. 3/ Index finger only small circles - 1 wrap 5 peace sign ( 2 fingers ) small circles - 2 wraps. 6/ fist - circles- lock off rope , couple wraps and half hitches. 7/ arm fully extended above head - tie on chainsaw. 8/ 2 fists together - tie on rope. 9/ fingers in eyes - look out , wake up and pay attention. feel free to add.
  19. They make me depressed. Leylandi reductions on wet scottish day is enough to make u pack in tree work.
  20. just read through info regarding unimog rules and if you reg it a argiculture vehicle then no more than 25 miles away from base allowed and motorway rules etc...sounds like a pain in ass also. looks like a 3.5t is best all round fro tree work and cheapest less hassle to run.
  21. thanks for all replies. its looks like a pain in the ass owning a truck..so i'll just skip that idea. to many rules and regs. Unimog sounds for better idea, though most my work is residential. mind you the winters we had last year it would have helped out a lot.
  22. Sick of taking away small loads from jobs and thinking about doing my Hgv licence so i can use bigger Vehicle. Whats the plus and negs of going from 3.5t to 7.5t tipper?
  23. nice vid. :thumbup1
  24. I think dadio is just trying new things ..but why fix something if it ain't broken. there are far better and safer methods to remove that tree. sometime comlpicating things to much makes the job far more dangerous when you could just fell it. After all the complex set-up to pull the top over..he just ended up ripping the top out with brute force...did not look controlled. could he have not felled it back into the woodland area behind?
  25. Man builds stunning ?hobbit house? for just £3,000 - Yahoo! UK & Ireland Finance nice.
