  9. anyone who smokes dope at work -esp tree work is asking for an accident. it affects you awareness, reaction time and choice making. this could lead to an accident and could injure other staff on site. also how would this affect insurance payout if you fall out a tree ? anyone who smokes dope at work is iresponsible and needs to get a grip.

Is he insured? qualifed? what happens if he snaps the phone line running through the tree...you will have to pay for it. 300 is a good quote if you think about what the average tree surgeon needs to pay out - wages, tax, fuel and oil, wear and tear of gear, vehicle insurance, tool insurance, employers liability insurance, public liability insurace...it goes on and on!
  13. Hamadryad, I bought the lime green / blue Tachyon with ocean polyester eye to eye. been tying my distel at different lengths to see if this helps ..seems like distel does not grab to well woth this set-up. i have some bee-line and was going to try this out on my older rope. might try some armor prus though. not to keen on the vt but will give it a shot.

  17. Size. well after a year of pressing my shoulders look like my 32k kettlebells and my arms have grown a lot. My hips and upper thighs have expanded and my core has gor bigger. its not about size though..its about fitness and strength. will put vids up of real kettlebell men.
  18. steve. kettlebells will get you stronger than free weights. all you need is kettlebells and gymnastic rings / body wieght work. has taken me 10 years of intensive training to work this out and much reading. if its strong core you want then hit the gymnastic rings. even pushups on rings kill the core.
  19. Steve. isolation muscles in exercises is not recommended unless you are after bodybuilder look. ( nothing wrong with that ). any exercises done with kettlebells you use the whole body...like heavy squating..you keep everything tight and contracted. when you press with bells your glutes, core, lats, grip and internal organs get stronger. when you train focus on form and quality. I always say to beginners - imagine if you are going to press the kettlebell once with each arm and thats your workout for today - you would put 100% quality into pressing that bell once right? ..though you will either do 5 x5 reps or ladder training. don't treat kettlebells like a workout or you will never get gains, try to look at every exercises as a skill. practice good form without burning out. Train for no longer than 1 hr, don't do more than 4 compound exercises, dynamic strech before doing training, don't overtax Central nervous system. example workout - beginners- goblet squat 5 x 5, swings, 3 x 1min, 1 arm press - 5 x 5, turkish getups - 3 reps left and right. Intermediate - double front squat - 5 x 5, swings - 5 x 1min , 2 arm press - 5 x 5 , tgu - 6 reps left ands right. there are many exercises to do with them so stick with basics for couple months. hey i also reccomend olympic gymnastic rings for pushups, dips, and pullups..thegreat thing is you hang them from trees. youtube - steve cotter, mike mahler, Rkc, ikff.
  20. i think that cedar weighs more like 200k. though still impresive.
  21. kettlebells are far better in my opinion ( depending what you are training for though ) there are thousands of different exercises out there and many newbies get confused with all the bs about strength and fitness. kettlebells are great for people who want to learn techniques in hopw to lift properly, it teaches you how to contract muscles, power breath and makes you more flexable are many of the exercises are dynamic. not just for strength though- try they special ops 200 snatches in 10mins with 24k kettlebell and you will see how good they can make your cardio. but like everything else in strength - Without proper knowledge of how to use barbells or kettlebells and how much reps exercises you should do etc, etc...you will just burn out. heres what you could look like if you train smart and hard
  22. here is a pic of my little collection which has grown a lot since pic, cast iron, pro grade and cast iron with cast ..pro grades are far better to use. If you want iron core try Tgu ( turkish getups ) when oldtime strongmen started out they were only allowed to do tgu when they got the 50kilo each side they could move onto another exercise. ..by this time the had a core of steel. if you want to learn how to use kettlebells correctly i suggest going onot dragondoor.com and reading articles, buying pavels kettlebell books or getting a RKC Instructor to give lessons.
  23. Steve. go for the prograde bells. there are more ergonomic and won't cause blisters. they are also better made. wouldn't go for any plaster stuff over top as they chip easy.
