  1. another thing about pricing small jobs..if costumer is ok to wait for you to do them then you can arrnage 4 small ones in a day..which i do often. 4 small jobs at £150 - £200 each. easy day and good profit. I will often quote small jobs very cheap if i know i can fit them in with other jobs booked in coming up so i can hit my day rate
  2. wow. really nice, Wish i could do something like that / had the time to learn. Enjoy seeing all timber that has been crafted into tables, benches or tunred on lathes on here.
  3. That vid was awesome to watch. the first one that is.
  4. Breathing in fumes lowers to testostorone levels and increases your estrogen ( woman hormone ) This in turn makes you prone to every illness in the modern world esp cancer. Science are now finding out that low Testostorone levels in men ( which is usaully due to bad diet, smoking and pollution , not exercising ) Is the main cause of cancer, dementia, low sex drive...the list goes on and on. Long story short - breathing chainsaw fumes will give you pair of breasts and cancer.
  5. Good thread, Just picked my 5 year old nephew a harness and was wondering what will be the safest way to let him climb with me.
  6. always safer to be on the ground if something goes wrong than up the tree. fell it should be first option and if there is space for it i wouldn't risk the climb.
  7. thats well nice. Looks designer!! You could sell that in the posh side of town for a couple G's.
  8. onto my second one now. saves twisting around to get saw from harness and it easier to put in leg sheath when you need to hold onto a limb. saves time and effort
  9. Call from uk and secure a couple interveiws first. do your research with regards to area you want to work in. ..this is a mistake i made and ended up staying in ghettos. Best to go for a month first and see if you fit in with the company.
  10. I am looking to do a Loler course this year and was wondering what it covers? Does it cover wear and tear or ropes and different types? calculations of forces on pulleys / ropes? Also is there a specialist Loler course for Arb work ? Thanks.
  11. Nice vid. Well edited. nice place to work Well I better go chip some Leylandi now in a Glasgow sceme! Great!!!
  12. I worked for several years in cali. google companies and call. simples. Also J1 working visa
  13. Unimog would be great..but in centre areas of the world its best to keep a low profile.
  14. Which 4 x 4 would be most reliable / comfortable?
  15. Wouldn't count on hypnotherapy! My girlfriend has been to hypnotherapy latelt for her fear of flying. And a very week know hypnotherapist at that. we had just been flying lately...there was about a 10% improvement ..and she had drank a load of whisky. You are more likely to encounter all creapy crawlies if you are doing tree work! Need to either man up and face them or stay well out of australia. you will find black widows often..but i would be more worred about this one that can kill and adult in 15mins.!!
  16. Just like to say thank you to Fr Jones for foxing My MS 200T. Free pick up of chainsaw from Glasgow and fixed and delivered back to me in a short time. TO CLASS SERVICE!
  17. Well one of the costumers who i quoted work for yesterday got back to me. She asked if i would like a testimonial and this is what she sent. Re TREE:TMENT Tree Surgeons I was worried about the size of a beautiful Cedar and requested a quote for removal from TREE:TMENT. Martyn came out to give a quote but reassured me it was not necessary as it was a) safe and b) the roots were not damaging the house. I was extremely impressed with his expertise and honesty as he was obviously doing himself out of a job - a rare thing these days. I would recommend TREE:TMENT to anyone who is thinking about having a tree removed as you will get honest advice and NOT someone who wants to rip up trees for money. Tamara well chuffed
  18. Yeah around that. mind you that was back in 2007. I wonder if it classed as a business expense.
  19. A month . you can do some advertising and quotes. Tool maintainance. personal inurance would have been good, always keep meaning to get insurance for accidents for myself. had one before that was £30 am months and they would pay out £500 a week if you had to take time of due to injury.
  20. if you have a sign written truck then go park it in a nice area on busy street. Guarantee you get calls from it...just move it around when you are not busy. I park my van outside my flat and get several calls a week from it because its a busy road. Far better than radion station.
  21. Word of mouth?? As in walk around and tell everyone he is a tree surgeon...surely must be better ways that that.
  22. Handy little thing to do when blocking down. will need to try that next time. Surely makes it a lot easier on bigger stems..
  23. £400. £350 cheapest Handsaw job for reductions ..if you want to do nice job you will need to get out on limbs. Things to watch out for below and prob a drag. 8.30am till 1.30pm.
