    Just got an Echo 390esx....what a superb little saw....on a par with a 346xp.
  2. It's got a carburettor from a Chinese joke shop I reckon....
  3. No mate, these skag-heads seemed to know what they were doing...first time I've watched it....truly the bottom line of a life...
  4. Well that was a first. We repollarded a Sycamore in Southend town centre, Essex, yesterday. A group of drug addicts suddenly appeared in the alley under the tree and started preparing and injecting heroin (or something equally foul). We asked them not to do this under the tree we were working on and they moved further down the alley and carried on. What a sad state my town has sunk down to
  5. My poor 550xp sits in our container, unloved, unwanted...about as much use as a carrying handle on a Unimog. What can I do with such an utterly useless, expensive lump of Swedish metal and plastic?.....
  6. I think far too much emphasis is placed on immigration as a reason for leaving the EU. Yes, it is a factor (especially with the mandatory open borders planned for 2020). I think most who voted to leave are more concerned about being ruled by our own elected idiots than be ruled by someone elses appointed ones!. Javelin, you are a true European, you voted for what you'd get if we'd stayed in...fair play mate! As for which party would be best to negotiate exit with...I dont think it would make much difference. We are the second biggest benefactor to the Federal Euro-coffers after the Germans...of course they don't want to give us a fair deal!. When we leave, the rest of the EU will have to pay more in, those who pay nothing in at all (eastern European member states), will find themselves putting their hands in their pockets...those who are on the recieving end of the handouts, will be getting less to develop their somewhat backward Countries. On top of the lack of money coming in, if the UK was given an easy ride, it would encourage other increasingly unwilling members to think about leaving themselves. Dont expect a golden handshake from Brussels...this is about damage limitation on both sides...not fairness.
  7. as I have the patience of a pissed off rattlesnake, I give it 5 throws and put it away. My throwing skills are lamentable, despite spending years doing it...you can't have it all!. I work with SRT gimps who are awesome with throw-ins, I silently curse them as they make the top anchor with the first throw....aint life a bitch?!..I have to say, in 23 years, I've never had to untangle my ladders.....:)

  9. ...and by the way...I don't disrespect any proEU people's opinions...they are not 'remoaners'....any more than 'Brexiteers' (hate than term too), are jingoistic, nationalistic or raving fascists. All opinions count.
  10. I'm still intrigued to hear if anyone is pro-Federal European government. The EU is not going to stay what it is now...it's in development. It will have one currency, one Army, one appointed Governing Council...and elected members of a single Parliament. This is what I personally voted against. I'd be interested to hear of someone who really wants the UK to become part of this future Europe?....economies are important but surely Sovereignty is THE most important thing for any Countries future?
  11. I've taken a minor cut from a kick back with both hands on the saw. It was extremely cold and I was wearing thicker gloves. The saw kicked out of my grip, hit a branch...and bounced into my hand. I got some tree surgeons sleeves this year. I use them in conifer hedge reductions, because I cut and hold when I do them. They are great when chipping or cutting thorn too. The reality is, when we cut those Leyland hedges, we do everything we are not supposed to do.
  12. Ok. Who would of liked to see the UK adopt the Euro, enter the Schengen zone....if we'd voted to stay in the EU?. Just out of interest.
  13. Just do the Arb assoc risk assessment course and use their generic risk assessment...why reinvent the wheel? [emoji1360]
  14. we use both, Echo's aint good for AV, but with the small saws, theres no difference. My 150t attachment has ripped out for the umpteenth time, this time totally. Great saw, but this fault has been ignored by Stihl for years....just one reason why all my saws are going over to Echo now....after 23 years, my love affair with Stihl is OVER!
  15. Ours is great...when we can fit it into a job. Most accesses here are just too tight and it just gets left outside
  16. Tragic. Well done to the bloke who aerial rescued him under such circumstances. RIP fella.
  17. It's a simple argument if you look at it objectively. Do you want to be Governed by British leaders or German dominated European ones?. The rest of it is important...but this is the fundamental issue.
  18. how many of us will be attending their local Remembrance Parades tomorrow?.
  19. well, I have set up a new FB account and turned off all notifications. I can use it for my business FB page and to keep in touch with friends. I'm not spending hours wasting time sifting through crap anymore. My soul is cleansed!
  20. who knows how it will pan out?. Its worth remembering, we did perfectly well before the 1998 and 1993 treaties were signed. I think what is more important, is whats now NOT going to happen. We would of been in the Schengen zone and part of the Euro by 2020...now that really would have changed things. Whatever anyone likes or dislikes about leaving the EU, the fact is, their objective is 'ever closer union' and eventually, a Federal European Government. Is that what most people who voted to remain really want?
  21. Does the 'i' stand for 'it's gonna play up'?
  22. you can't beat a good brew!
  23. yet again, this subject descends into petty insults and allegations. No wonder the Government can't deal with the situation...people cant even talk sensibly about it. Of course the UK needs migration, every Country does. What we need to do is look at other Countries immigration systems and have a controlled, workable policy. It doesn't take the brains of an Archbishop to see that the open borders of the EUs Schengen zone are unsustainable. My mate is serving with the UK Border Force in the Med, he told me people are paying between 2,000 and 10,000 Euro's to be taken out to sea and 'rescued' and brought to the European mainland...sometimes 300 miles from where they were picked up...10 miles from the shore. Somebody is making £millions out of this...and the EU wants it to happen. This is the tip of the iceberg...it has to be dealt with effectively...now.
  24. this is one of those debates which will go around in circles...some people want mass-migration just like some people want a Federal European Government. What I find disturbing, is how anyone who voices concern at either, is vilified as some kind of right-wing extremist. We all have opinions, we all have the right to vote (at the moment), exercise both and respect others different views.
