  1. Guys, don't fall into that 'Us Brits are all war-criminals' trap. The British and the Empire did wonderful things for the world, some of our actions were a bit unsavoury to modern minds, but you have to put them into the context of the times. Other Colonial powers were MUCH worse that us and did little to develop the countries they managed. We should be proud of what our country achieved in the past. All this self-beating is just whining, bleeding heart nonsense. We were called GREAT Britain for a reason Be proud of what our ancestors achieved ..dont apologise for it! (but..... don't get me started on the (great) Britain of today!
  2. no offence taken mate, none at all. We can all have our opinions, that is a right that our Grandparents fought and died for. Its just a bit sad that we seem to have lost our moral direction as a country. Look at the world today and the USA doesn't stand out as a threat to my way of life, they are responsible for some pretty appalling TV however
  3. I am indeed mate
  4. they are a great tool, not classed as PPE by the way. The only problem is, its so small I've just lost my second one in a year
  5. 'the biggest terrorist in the world, responsible for the biggest number of innocent deaths and acts of violence is the USA ' ha ha! get real mate and be thankfull your able to voice your dubious opinions in you own country.
  6. I'll be up for camping, barby and beer quaffing next year
  7. I'd like to see one tied in a pocket, eyes shut whilst picking nose...now that would be an envious skill
  8. ha ha!, one sugar and milk please..and mind your f###### language in front of the blokes!
  9. ...hehe, I was talking about salt!...I can't be doing with lugging cordless drills about with flat batteries to curse. Bring back Amcide and have stump treatment as part of CS31..we all know it makes sense!
  10. ..you can beat a willans in a conni hedge mate!....
  11. The chainbrake/front guard seems to have been made shorter..hopefully this will lead to less breakages...I'll soon find out, I break 'em every couple of months!
  12. well I never!, I've been struggling with various semi-effective substitutes for Amcide for ages, I'll give this a go!
  13. I've worked with a couple of girls over the years, one did a little bit of climbing in smaller trees, very precise work but she was a bit slow. They both worked like Trojans on the ground, lots of stamina and had no problems lifting logs, dragging brash etc. I've worked with some new lads who couldn't rip a tissue!. The only issue was at tea breaks, the blokes conversations used to dry up without all the usual profanity! . I'd have no problem employing a female as long as she did everything the blokes do...and there are girls out there that can do exactly that...
  14. Felix went down with such a thump all te little hangers fell out the tree! ha ha!
  15. just wear it when you do conifer hedges and hide it when you get your LOLER inspection...and I never said that!
  16. ...its true, that was 13mm arborline until Al got on the end of it...now I've got enough bootlaces for life! . It always pays to check your anchor points, I usually get 2 blokes to put their weight on the line prior to climbing..or Al!
  17. nice one Geoff, arbtalkers at their finest...total breeze....hmmm, not up the tree it wasn't you ground dweller!

  19. you mean you want to borrow my lowering device?...no problem Steve!
  20. ha ha!, now THAT would make for a bit of keen competition!
  21. fantastic photos fellas. Its always great to see these old planes in flight...a great way to respect the brave blokes who flew and fought in them on all sides.
  22. I like the hardiness of a Stihl over a Husky, but in this direct comparison, a 346XP knocks spots off an MS261 in performance...a lovely little saw with great power to weight ratio.
  23. top lunge that man!
  24. ladders!!....I use a throwline/bigshot when I have to, but I do this to earn money!. Get the ladder in, get the job done, go and do another one. Spikes - always on a takedown. Its all about doing it as quickly, as efficiently and as safely as possible.
  25. I've been getting on alright with the new chain. I'm a dyed in the wool oregon chain man, but, so far so good with the Stihl stuff.
