  1. well, after a couple of weeks constant use, I have to say I'm very impressed with this saw. The chain tensioning issue seems to have sorted itself out..just a case of running in I guess. The pick up on the revs is very different from 200T, which takes a bit of getting used to. There is a lot more power, which helps when cutting bigger wood and when 'chasing' cuts through during section felling, again, this takes a bit of getting used to, I have been 'over-cutting' quite a bit!. I'm using less fuel, there is less vibration and the air filter is staying much cleaner. I'll be interested to see how it fares after another 6 months of graft. Husqvarna are going to have to pull a rabbit out of a hat to beat this saw!
  2. had my 15 year old lad with me today for a bit of work experience. We had a couple of easy jobs to do, but blimey, what a scorcher!. Now he knows what its like to work in heat. Hopefully it'll be a bit cooler tommorow...
  3. I've heard that about using the rope replacements for a Grillon. I've never taken any notice of it and always used 10mm Beal static line with fishermans knots on each end. No probs so far, why pay £30 for a 3m piece of rope?

    My stag do

ha ha!, excellent. I ended up chained naked in a phone box for 2 hours until the Police got some bolt-croppers and release me...thanks fella's!
  5. I got one of those Petzl Sequoia swing harness at the arbshow. Its taken a bit of tweaking and adjusting, but I've got it set up just right now and I'm happy with it. The only thing I don't like is when you go to sit down and remember you've got a plastic plank strapped on your 'Arris!
  6. totally agree mate, in addition to all the above...a freelance climber should complete every job he undertakes to the same standard as if it was his own. Your only as good as your last job...
  7. I've seen a few of these curl their toes up after new driveways/paving etc has been put down over their root area or near it..they don't like it!
  8. voted...and ding dong!..you lucky boy
  9. I've got no complaints about the saws performance..its balance is perfect, theres more power and the chain performs very well in both big wood and on smaller pruning cuts. I'm concerned about the initial pick up and wear on the bar and spur sprocket..only time will tell. Maybe this is all to do with the lack of the piston pump (which was a pain on the 200t that had to be replaced ever 4 to 6 months anyway)?. I've still got a 200t and a 200, but my 201t is my weapon of choice
  10. I got one of Stihl's new offerings at the Arbshow. I noticed when the saw picks up on the throttle, in acts and sounds like the chain is too tight, even when set much looser that I'd normally use it. I've tried filling the plastic blocks on the side plate/body down and removing one of them to no avail. I got the chance to check out a mates 201T yesterday and his has the same symptoms. Is this just down to the saw design?...once the revs pick up its not a problem, but I'm wondering if this is putting strain on the clutch when running up?....
  11. Pensions?....I wouldn't trust anyone with my pension money in the UK (not that I've ever been able to scrimp any savings away whatsoever!). Better off buying property, no government can take it away from you...(and it ain't gonna get any cheaper!). Lets face the facts people, there are millions of useless mouths that are being fed by the working people of this country...and only so much money for all of us when we all retire to water the roses. The sums just don't add up..we're in for a hard time when we're old, grey and wrinkly
  12. 25 quid helmet for a 25 quid head!. I've been wearing Petzl Ecrin Roc helmets for about 15 years, had a big lump of macrocarpa fall on my head which split the helmet from crown to rim. I got away with a headache and a stiff neck the next day. These 'new' lightweight helmets may look pretty, but would they take a knock like that?...I'm not going to be the one to find out thanks....
  13. Blimey, when I saw the title of this thread, I thought shares in Anne Summers were about to go through the roof !!
  14. sharia law?..no thanks!. with regard to the bloke being jailed for defending his family...of course its against natural law. In the eyes of the law, it all comes down to the use of 'minimum force'..difficult to ascertain in the heat of the moment. I would have done the same..better to be tried by 12 than carried by 6. Also, how could you live your life with the knowledge that someone came into your home and beat your family...and you did nothing?...
  15. the sad fact is...theres no dosh left in the kitty...the only thing to do is bite the bullet. We're all having to do it, going on strike will just make us all bite the bullet a bit harder for a bit longer.
  16. have a look on earborist. One of the firms I sub for is selling a U1700, I often drive this mog and I can tell you its a lovely machine...Will Brush is the bloke selling it, Give me a shout if you can't find it.

    cheers

  17. very pleased with mine. It seems they've sorted all the things that I disliked about the MS200T. No more piston pumps to replace, no more broken chainbrake handles etc...time will tell of course. My initial impressions are good:thumbup:
  18. to tick the right boxes on the paperwork - quals to get the job done and earn the money, without breaking anything - experience
  19. finally sorted out my problem with my Haix boots...I bought a pair of Meindl boots at the arb show
  20. Tragically, Felix logchoppers chainsaw trousers split during the photographing of this spectacular lunge...riiiiiiiiiiip!
  21. I need a new MS200T (or 201T), a new harness, new boots, new rope and a new pair of Type C C/saw trousers. I am however skinters...maybe I'll just go with a full face balaclava and a sawn off shotgun
  22. 'The first ones we had were excellent but must admit the latest ones are utter garbage' I agree, my first one was a weaver bag..that lasted 2 years, good bag. I replaced it with another identical bag..except it had Stein on it..it lasted 2 months before the shoulder strap ripped away. About as much use as a handbrake on a canoe...don't buy one
  23. Overcoming premature ejaculation difficulties. ...Oh come on!!!
  24. My accountant gets me a fiver a day for breakfast as I start work at an 'unreasonable hour'. I don't know why, as I get up earlier to have a good breakfast!
  25. hmmm, I need a new saw...I'm torn between 'buy the new shiney one that is bound to have design teething problems' and 'good old 200T if it works don't fix it'. I think cost will be the deciding factor
