  1. have used both - although Jobeau was an M400. The Jo Beau wins hands down for me, built quality, power and bigger opening.
  2. my eldest son put a note on our front door saying 'no trick or treaters please - sleeping baby'. We haven't had any and have scoffed all the sweets the missus got for them...result!
  3. 'Have you seen him Dave? The shockwave from the accident won't have reached his spine yet.' ha ha ha!..just did a small wee in my stretchairs over that one!
  4. I think the answer to this one is - retie the knot every time you climb. If your using a knut with a hitchclimber and a ropeguide, ALL the friction is going to be on your friction cord, we all know how much heat is generated on a descent on these..even a slow one.
  5. do you need tickets for anything?...of course the answer is yes. I know quite a few blokes who lack even the most basic NPTC units who are more than capable of dismantliing trees....if however there was an accident...they be in it up to their necks.
  6. 'but im going to try the new dishwasher when the other half is out !!'...good skills mate, don't let 'Er indoors catch you doing it!. I remember mine catching me with 35m or New England on spin in the new washing machine...my ears were bleeding!
  7. 'down is crap when it's wet!'...that just brought back a few cold, soggy memories of '58 pattern and no bivvy bag or basha!..brrrrrrr
  8. did a very similar job at a local church a few years ago. Completely stripped all foilage off them too...the vicar is planting clematis up it!...uugh!
  9. 'He'd put it through the dishwasher on a lowish heat.'....me too mate, with the addition of a bit of a scrub with vim before it goes in. Not to sure what Petzl would have to say about this tho!. If your client really wants you, they won't care how dirty your helmet is!
  10. 201T out performs the 200T in my books. I'm back on Oregon chain now, I didn't like the guard links on the new Stihl. I've got a 14" bar on now and find its great on take downs, I haven't had a big saw up half as much as I usually do. Less vibration and longer between refils. I can't say I've noticed any difference at all in weight..although my mate found it very noticable.
  11. Agreed, a spiffiing good lunge!
  12. Never tried one Geoff, I'd like to give on a go though. I'm a bit suspicious of these clutches wearing out so quickly, my first one lasted a year, maybe they are just using softer metal to boost after sales?.
  13. I thought they were just for, cough, splutter....SRT,, (rinses mouth out .....I'll have to try one out...as they say, 'try everything in life at least twice except incest and single rope technique' !
  14. ah well, I'm back on a hitchclimber and knut for a bit, might just use my lockjack for the up and down sort of jobs!
  15. I don't get some people on here. We're all share a common bond in our work, but seeing some people's opinions, hatred for our allies and daft conspiracy theories aired on this forum, makes me realise different we all are. I will spare a thought for those who died in NY and be thankful I live in a free-country. Each to their own.
  16. sadly the feller in this video has now had to have plastic surgery to hide his identity and is under the witness protection programme....hope no one posts one of my crap fells up here....lets face it, we all do one now and again!
  17. yet another clutch slipping today, that the third in a year. I'm on 11/12mm on Yale xtc or Yale scorch. Getting fed up replacing them at £18 a throw..anyone else suffering this?
  18. 11 1/2 stone...no body fat...I never put any weight on and I'm 47 now. Felix the logchopper tries to fatten me up by hand-feeding me anything he's got left over in his gargantuan lunch bag on the way back from jobs...but it doesn't work!
  19. ha ha!, you'll get served quicker in the pub if you only wash 'em every 2 months!. Make sure you do the fly up or they'll break
  20. Hmmm, nice beaver!!!
  21. phew!..that was a close shave!. Its easy for people to say 'should have used a mewp' but sometimes we all have to make the call whether to climb or not. I've had a couple of nasties with Birch over the years. Glad he's lived to climb another day
  22. I had a big Ifor trailer with a winch and ramps. If either of my landies broke down, I'd just winch 'em on and pull them around to my mechanics place. I towed my U1300 back with my landie once (low ratio 2nd all the way!). Another time my Mog clutch went and a local fella recovered me with a big Scania and crane. He had to 'walk' the wagon up his ramps as the air had leaked out and the brakes were stuck on..he only charged me £60, what a top bloke:thumbup1:. Nowadays, I'm a one vehicle band and I get the AA to recover me with relay.
  23. Don't price jobs for 5 Hours. Its either half a day or a whole one. ...now theres a sound bit of advice !
  24. Don't mention loo's Stevie, the conversation will take a nose-dive again! I like the idea of an Ifor 10x5 tipper with a Jo-Beau mounted on the A-frame but with ramps that pull out for on site chipping...hmmmmm:thumbup1:
  25. I seem to have spent years dragging out 4" brash and feeding it into 10" chippers!. I've been hiring my mates JoBeau for some jobs lately, the customer has been getting everything over 4" nicely cut and stacked and a pile of woodchips in the corner of the garden. A lightbulb has just come on above my head!
