  1. Drew I have the lopro attachments etc... do you have to invert the vids in the options or do you just do it later in the editing suit? Cheers.
  2. Check out the Taylor hamel vids he did for the manufacturer of the friction saver. Thy are in YouTube and give a good idea for retrieval. Especially on a pole, you pass the pulley and Prussic through the eye and cinch it tight. It retrieves really well this way. It is all explained in the video.
  3. I actually had two 5 metre steel flip lines clipped together for that tree. You could extend the rope guide but at the time I didn't have anything suitable. These days, most of the time on a pole I use a running bowline cinched to the stem and rope wrench, hc and vt as a bail out option.
  4. It depends on the size of the stem your dismantling. I made up a 4.5 metre one for a large London Plane tree we were dismantling and craning out the stem. It still wasn't long enough for that. Longer the better I'd say if your doing big stuff. It will still work on smaller diameter stuff just daisy chain the excess or I do a noose type knot. Hope this helps.
  5. Thanks. I tend to shoot in 1080 30p w. I need to be a bit more creative with the shots. Thanks for the inspiration.
  6. Nah it is blocked on mobile devices due to copyright. I had the same problem on my iPhone but it works on Mac and my TV. Great video with some really creative filming. You say 720 W? Which model of go pro do you use? Cheers.
  7. I stand corrected, by the auto correct on my iPhone, then by you. Haha.
  8. I try not to let simple things such as other peoples lack of vocabulary and thickness bother me.
  9. I should be so lucky!
  10. A couple of pictures of climbing last week.
  11. Nice tips there. I usually use the running bowline but have the other stuff kicking about so might try some variations
  12. Nice vid and what looks like a great product. Good work on both accounts.
  13. I agree, get him to make the mess good again. It shouldn't take too long... The picture below took 2 hours to sort out. 6 Harrison rockets and both ends of three throw lines got stuck up a large ash. All caught on the same but of deadwood... 1 zing it 1 dynaglide 1 a.n..other Your gotta laugh sometimes.
  14. Nice Tim. What method did you use for the slomo? Did you reduce the frame rate as you are cutting the clip or did you slow it down later in the edit?
  15. 30 degree gob cut. Estimate 1/5th of the height of the tree in the log size. Cut log off and it will land flat nearly every time. Jerry Beranek called it felling ratios.
  16. Cheers Paul, it was one of them jobs that you start and it is all wet and cold and you just crack on. Once the crown of the tree was out, I turned around and the cloud had cleared and a pretty nice view had turned up. Imagine what it would be like living there and seeing the same view over the basin with a backdrop of blue skies..?
  17. One from a couple of weeks ago.
  18. Lovely. Especially using it with a rope guide and vt.
  19. No, those fibres have defo been stretched.
  20. I hit a piece of old fencing wire today whilst doing the back cut on a leaning, ivy covered pine. Ended up sharpening the 460 3 times today.
  21. Didn't know that Arnold. Do you have any research from the manufacturers regarding this. I have cut splices off and respliced the same end before, yeah the usual problems with used rope but still doable. I must admit though that I do the other end most of the time as it is cleaner and usually easier. Cheers.
  22. Used rope is always harder to splice. Not bad for a first attempt. One point though is the cover looks like it needs milking away from the eye to try and even out the strands. Obviously they aren't goin to look exactly the same as the rest of the rope as there is 2 times the amount in there. If you look at the picture above and compare to this one you may notice the different. Practice makes perfect.
  23. Nice vid Matt. I did like the camera perspective. gonna try and be more creative with some of my vids but it is trying to find the shot whilst not bollaxing the go pro...
  24. It is a hard rope. More like Tachyon or even harder. Very little stretch in the line when climbing. It is supposed to be 11.7 but tbh feels thinner than tachyon.
  25. Think i did 9 cm for that one... usually about 9-10 though.
