  1. When splitting rings at work or even use a sledge hammer on a tractor tyre... TABATA work out. Sounds pretty easy but believe me you will be pretty pooped by the end of it.
  2. Nice and smooth there Tim. Did you climb the other tree to set and retrieve the rigging block or set it remotely from the floor?
  3. Not quite a hoover, but the guy I was climbing for tends to have (by his own admission) terrible OCD when it comes to sawdust. If he sees your suggestion I think he would probably go out and buy one. The worst thing you can do is tell I'm he has missed a bit He will start blowing the whole place down again. The job was in the Horniman Museum in South East London, a pretty public place so he likes to do a good job...!
  4. Finished the hc dismantle on Thursday in the rain. Left the stump at about 7 foot as a ram is being carved into it as the tree is outside an animal enclosure. Rich
  5. The bulldog is nice mate. I'll bring to cutters and climbers if your going and haven't had a go by then. Must admit though I did a large oak RJ today and climbed with a vt and rope guide and it was great...
  6. Good work Adam. You like the RR then?
  7. Had a little blast on Tachyon today. Can't really offer a firm opinion yet as it was lashing it down all day! What fun. John have you noticed my advanced tethering point? A bit of used zingit and a ring of one of the good ladies handbags! Rich
  8. John, I want one of them! Can you knock one up for me and I'll pay in Strongbow?
  9. For the record I use Cougar Blue with a RR. Rich
  10. Cougar Blue or Cougar Puke? The question is, How long you gonna procrastinate about buying a new rope? Just buy one and then if you don't like it get another. Never have too many ropes. I'll give you credit where credit is due though mate, you do like to do your research.
  11. Ooops. Rich
  12. Horse Chestnut dismantle on the edge of a Lama, goat, sheep, cockerel and other animal enclosures. Rigged about 3/4s of the tree due the enclosures fencing. Climbed on the Bulldog dogbone all day. Sadly no before pic but here's how we left it. Back tomorrow to finish off. Windy as hell on top of the hill in London!
  13. Steve are we being informed of raffle ticket numbers or you just gonna announce names when you pull tickets?
  14. No creeping at all Gordon, in fact it worked really well, just a bit different to my usual setup. It will be ok I am sure. James, no mate not me for the kern. Too bouncy when I tired it last year but that was on a wrench.
  15. Thanks Gordon. I did read something on the buzz about the change of position for ascent. I thought the guys in the US using CB where on the 5/8th bollard aswell. I would have thought with the larger bollard it would be almost impossible to move the bone. Then again I am used to a really loose, fast VT. I reckon give me a few more climbs on the CB and it'll be sweet (or I could wash the crap off it). Thanks for the great service though, arrived much quicker than I expected, luckily one of my neighbours took the parcel for me as I was abroad.
  16. Had a little spin in mine today. Felt pretty nice but a bit jumpy. I guess it is due to the rope today being a little dirty to say the least. Used it with Cougar Blue. I found it descends really smooth but then quickly goes into free fall. Causing you to stop pretty rapidly. I assume it will wear in as it was the first climb. I felt like I was getting the hang of it towards the end of the climb. Gordon, what bollard do you recommend for the cougar blue rope? I have used the one you sent it with which looks to me to be the middle sized one. 5/8ths ? Got a HC to dismantle tomorrow and Thursday so might give it whirl on my tachyon if the CB hasn't dried out. I did try to get my it to advance as the one in the last clip did but it was nowhere as smooth. Tyler has been climbing quite a while on his though. Do they bed in with use? Cheers.
  17. I think a lot of guys use Tachyon as it stays firmer or rounder due to the third core. Personally I find it a bit too bouncy when on a base anchor. Ok for top anchor but the Cougar blue is all the tachyon is IMO but with less bounce so could for base tie or top tie. I have 4 hanks of tachyon and have been climbing on it for about 6 years or more. I rate it much better than poison Ivy, which I had for about 6 months then went back to tachyon. Imori is terrible when wet and never seemed to dry. I ditch that one after doing 2 weeks of hangar and hazard removals in the snow about 4 years ago. Now it is a tag line. For the guys on the US focus who are swearing by Imori, I would ask if they have actually climbed on any other double braid??? I can't get over how bad Imori is. Seriously mate, I cannot recommend courage blue enough.
  18. A lot of the guys across the pond are liking tachyon and cougar blue. Personally the lower the stretch on a climbing line the better for SRT imo. I will let you know in the week when I have had a burn on both.
  19. Matty, send Surveyor a PM. Gordon makes them himself. Very easy to deal with, mine was in the post within 24hours of requesting one. You need to sign a disclaimer and provide some information and then I paypal 'd the money to him and it was in the shipping the same day. Can't wait to have a burn on the bone!
  20. Mine arrived today apparently. Pity I am not back till Monday.
  21. They are great, whenever I do a dead standing tree I tend to cut them up as we are sorting the timber out. Chuck em in the back of my truck and keep them for camping later on.
  22. I Never bother splicing hitch cord mate. Too much effort and the hitch never functions correctly IME. Done a couple of eye to eye longer ones to make a footlock Prussic and a multi sling with a ring in one end and revolver in the other.
  23. Same here mate. Good effort for a first go, even better with the music down. I never try to edit clips to music, far too much agg! Just edit the clips together look how long the vid is then look in your music library for tracks about the same length. Most of the time just laying the tune over the footage will make it looks like a lot of effort is taken in editing. Pure luck. If it doesn't go then use a different track and maybe some of it will linkup!
