  2. The problem I find is getting the dog to recognise when to pull and when to be civilised. We started using a different harness for pulling with a connection over her arse. Whereas the regular harness has a connection on her back, closer to the shoulders. No idea if she will eventually work it out though but I guess like anything, these things need training. Practice and repetition. One thing I did with Kira whilst we were at the cabin was to set a blood trail for about 150-200m on some skidoo tracked and then into the deeper snow. I had a frozen 200g lump of raw Moose meat trimmings I had skimmed off a carcass. That was the prize. I will try and upload the video. My missus was worried because she looked like she was shivering loads. But when a dog is sniffing like that their heart rate is far above and beyond what it is when they are exercising. SO basically the adrenalin from knowing she was on a hunt was making her whole body quiver. then it would stop as she was in between sniffs.
  3. These kick bikes are pretty good and easy to bail if the dog goes a burton.
  4. This one actually didn’t go too bad. A friend lent us a big wheeled kick bike for Kira. That didn’t go too bad well. She is pulling then gets a scent of a deer or something and just darts off in that direction. Can make pretty tiring. We are hoping the small but successfully exposures to the skiing will help with the kick bike. IMG_0216.mov
  5. Takes time mate. Kira is still pretty useless at it. Doesn't pull up hil she just tries to bite the skis. One the down hill bits she pulls like billy'o' and the missus craps herself and usually throws herself into a snow drift to stop. I find it hilarious, the missus not so much.

  8. Thanks Mick. i thought I was special. It isn’t even 0800 here and you have already extinguished my bonfire with your urine.

  10. Don’t bring race into it. Or the English language - we invented it after all. Maybe it is because we have a different sense of humour. You state you have Y’s and flip flops…. That’s a pisstake if ever I read one. As English people we are required to take sarcasm to the max and rip the piss completely. It is written in our Constitution (sarcasm)!

  14. Yet, I am up in the mountains in central Norway on 5g. Loading better than my WiFi at home tbh.
  15. Kira is coming a bit reactive with some dogs, not all. if a dog displays playful tendencies she wants to be friends. if they have a modicum of dominance she turns into a gypsy teenager and wants to fight them. Can be quite tiring!
  16. Up at the cabin in the mountains this week. Kira seems to be having fun. Lots of outside time. Treid to do some trai j g with her to be calm so when it was my turn as Stine wanted to do some snowboarding. I walked into town and went to a few shops, then got a coffee and chilled at a cafe/hotel. Seemed to go ok.

  18. Id say one word - No. Abojt 20 years ago I was rigging down a Lombardy Pop over an aspestos roofed garage. we rigging a lump which the inexperience grounds guy let run but stopped in what he thought was time. The rope stretched out, smashed a hole in the roof, bounced back up the geezer on the tag line tried to pull like mad and it stretched again and smashed another hole and then recoiled again and smashed a third hole in the roof. So again I would say no to using Rick climbing ropes for rigging.

  20. I am not a welder or an ag mechanic but would it not change the balance of the fly wheel or are the welds and tolerances for the balancing negligible?
  21. Mike, I have actually done similar as I am sure you have. 🀣 Rear garden removal. 4 storey town house and everything had to go down a set of stairs through a basement flat. The guy still had his prized records, framed and hung on the walls. Tight turns and then up a flight of stairs out to the front. Then stack in the street. If you could find a parking space close to the house. Those were the days eh?
