  1. I use a coos bay cut. Basically a triangle cut. Do the compression cut at 45 degrees then the side closest to you at 45 degrees making a v pointing towards the ground. Then power through the top and match the cuts. Like the box cut but with one less cut.
  2. Grab a granny night was a Wednesday IIRC.
  3. I used to listen to music on the way to work. Often just turned down in the background just to take the edge of the monotony of driving into Oslo. On the way home I usually have a podcast or Audiobook on.
  4. Anyway we all know it is the climber who gets the birds. Not the guy covered in tree dust and grime operating a deadly machine at ground level. 🀣
  5. I had a climb in the Akimbo 2 or Max or whatever it was called. Wasn’t for me, didn’t work in the Norwegian market. i did three climbs on it and sent it on to the next tester.
  6. Have you been in the white spirit Stefan. I can’t help but laugh at Scandinavians who when they find out what I do say they have been cutting trees since they were a boy. There is a vast difference between cutting trees for a week in summer at grandads cabin and climbing and cutting 5 days a week for 20 plus years. Stump grinding isn’t that hard, especially these days with remote control grinders and tracked machines that are very capable. Stump grinding is a shit job, stick to it. You can have them all as far as I am concerned. 😜
  7. As it happens, yes. it was about 20plus years ago and I was taking down a dead birch. The boss was old school and decided to lend me his old 020 (original, not an old schooler calling an ms200 an 020). I did an outboard step cut and the piece fell with the bar trapped in the curf. As it fell I had hold of the two handles. The piece continued to the floor with the bar and most of the saw. I still had hold of the two handles, the rest hit the deck. There was just a few wires hanging out of the handle and the fuel lines LOL. The saw lanyard just ripped the metal D ring out of the back of the saw. He wasn’t happy, in fact he gave me a right bollocking. I don’t think I have used an outboard step cut since on a horizontal piece.
  8. In recent years the ring for hanging the saw in a TM harness is green. Green is also life support so no breakaway built into the harness. Hence the reason to use a production lanyard with a breakaway built in.
  9. Lovely place. I grew up in Hartburn and regularly used to frequent the Black Bull and the Claggy mat (cross keys) pub. I would take a look for you but I no longer live in the area let alone the country. Best of luck.

  12. Looking like a slick gunslinger from the Wild West. 😁
  13. Not sure if it is my Mac or a universal issue but I cannot condense threads when you are a the unread threads pages. It has done this before but usually fixes itself. EDIT: Sack that! it has just fixed itself.

  15. Good luck young (old) man 😜
  16. It won’t damage the rope fibre to my knowledge. i used to beat the shit out of tough splices and then try to manipulate the throat of the splice and rinse and repeat till it is buried to the mark of the eye. are you shock loading the splice? I used to tie it off to my bench with a long sling and shock it that way until I switch to the tow hitch in my truck as I pulled the bench off the wall in my old workshop.

  19. Did you try beating the throat with a mallet to tenderise it when you are trying to bury it? I find it helps quite a bit on ropes with a tight jacket.
