  1. The company may find they get the fine,i got stopped on the M6 and weighed,i was 2 ton over on the back axel of my old mog, i, as the driver got a total discarge but my company got a £350 fine.Thats when i desided to get a bigger mog.
  2. any one tried those battery power jobs, they look like a joke to me, but i could be wrong?
  3. I think a silky and you're elbow is more than 22cc!
  4. only ever used one years ago, don't no the model, that one was not good the balance was all wrong, all the weight was to the rear.
  5. Good God! 22 hectares! :scared:more than 3 days on one site and i start to get fedup, that would have had me waking in the night with cold sweats.
  6. What is the overiding factor that determines the correct balance ? I do not feel comfortable that it is just finance! As the owner of my company and the climber finance is VERY important, but my neck will always be my main concern.
  7. not defending them, but if the 110 was registed as a cherry picker it would not need MOT

  16. sorry! It a beer bottle, I was sat behind the wall at the top having a few beers and throwing the emptys over my shoulder, ooopps......
  17. Hauxley "little David" i had one, deadly,:scared:i moved the handle on mine to the other end.
  18. I agree in you situation that sounds like sound business.
  19. I have no fixed prices IMO each job has a maximum price regardless of how you do it,the way you make money is to do the job in the most efficient way possible,ie least costs,so if the mewp is not going to save time,ie labour costs, greater than the cost to hire or own, then you are making less profit. thats basic business. why would you charge less for not using a mewp? if there is money in the job to pay for a mewp then charge for one then don't use one and make more profit.
  20. I think the chasm you speak of may be between those who love to climb and those who see it as just part of the job,if i could no longer climb due to legisation I think I would seriously consider leaving the industry. I believe the more you climb the safer you are due to you greater experience,if you were to use a mewp for much of you're work you skill levels would drop as would you're fitness,so when you did climb you would be less safe IMO
  21. All jobs have a price, well mine do,the profit is the gap between price and costs,so any extra cost ie mewp hire, eats into profit. If you do it for less because you don't use a mewp well thats just bad business!!!!! You should only use equipment that reduces costs(if you wont to make money)ie i have hiab because the cost of the labour it saves is greater than the cost of the hiab, hence more profit.
  22. you don't want a 200t on the ground, you could end up with one hand,i should not have been so flippant.sorry
  23. At least if you're climbing you can feel the tree and get an idea if it stability, how safe is some one in a mewp if they make the wrong cut and the tree fails, also mewp can encourage people without the required skills to have a go imo
