If i see it again I'll take a pic,the trailer is very small and when i first saw it i thought it was a tow behind,i think ratchet straps stop it jumping,the best way to describe it is like a bike trailer or towing dolly.

you've lost me? i use one rope and a strop,use both ends of my rope,but one rope.

don't you mean bashlin,that what i use but i like the sound of those carbon ones, do they come with sorter gaffs the ones in the pic look a bit long?

Just wondering if anybody wear's those neck guards you get with the husky hats, ocaisionly i use mine. Never! once had a HSE guy call on site,years ago,he looked over our saws etc,one of mine was a 1979 020 with no chain brake,but because it was as it had been at the time of manufacture and i was self employed,he said it was OK,as long as no one else used it, he checked our pants and then asked where our neck protection was, we all looked at each other puzzled,it seemed that had been a site where they all had the rain flaps in their hats and thought it was some kind of saw protection!

The one the guy near me uses is smaller than the chipper so it is just like a tow behind,its a timberwolf,its very neat.

We are lucky that we have a track chipper to use when its really wet and we don't want to carve the ground up, its great, but its a right pain in the bum in town when space is tight and we just want to chip into a vehicle. So we take the road tow, thats ok if you have enough work and money to justify two chippers. A guy near me puts his tracked chipper on a very low trailer which has no tail board,bit like a bike trailer or very small low loader,so he can us it like a trailed chipper,two chipper in one!

this is not uncommon my mum used to work in the A&E at the hospital and says if to ever climb up a ladder or the like, you should tuck you pants in your socks,because if the broom handle finds your trouser leg it can only go one place,not good

They talked about this when the European working at hight legislation came in,they wanted us to use two ropes,but trials showed to be a none starter so they agreed that you can move around the tree on one, but must have two when cutting.

Good point Bob i only normally work with one groundie and he does not use a saw,so i cut every thing ready for chipping up the tree,lower almost nothing, i will always stop and wait if needs be to allow him to move bash so he doesn't have a tangle to fight with,you need to work smart not quick.

I don't think you can generalize like that,i am my own boss, i price my work and i do all the climbing in my firm,had a fall 12 years ago which was caused by inexperience, i know i a able to get jobs done faster than many of my competitors and as a result i make a good living but i do not think i am greedy,and have not had an accident in 12 years.

you don't get suby work on price, most contractors will pay more for the right climber,if you drop your price your cutting your own throat,you under cut their price so they come back and under cut you,after a while your all working for next to nothing, you should win all work on quality not price.
