  1. I've just read the link you posted Paul, if anything it makes me like ZHC more not less. If someone goes from being a self-employed to employed on a ZHC, it gives them considerable increased security, that can't be a bad thing surely? The way I see it is many people on a ZHC would not have a job if they were not an option.
  2. Chill out Paul I took no offence at your comment, I simply disagree. PS, I'm not a mod.
  3. Rubbish!!! Many chose to run their own business because it gives them the freedom to work as and when they wish, many employees are also happy to have the same flexibility and are more than happy to have a zero hours contract.
  4. Fuel tanks open up on the seam and the top handle folds where the switch and trigger are.
  5. :thumbup1:"Flicking" the rope is the way to go, IME
  6. I think that if your using self-employed guys who also work for other firms and/or do a lot of their own private work, your fine, but if you have someone working regularly for you and no one else you could find yourself liable.
  7. A pair of boots and a hat is no big deal.
  8. Zero hours contract, I've had a lad working for me as a subie for years, but just put him on the books, much easier than I expected. He's on a zero hours contract, if he works I pay him if he doesn't I don't , he gets less in his hand, it costs me the same except the extra I'll be paying for his holidays, but he was due a raise anyway so he's getting the holidays as a raise. At least I'm no longer worrying that I may get hit for his tax.
  9. Most have been a HUGE tree to be that size at 20M!!!
  10. Dogs work best, IME, but they need to be the real deal, the villains soon work out which ones are all bark and no bite.
  11. So you wear those over your trousers???? I guess seeing that happen to a co-worker would make one want to prevent it happening to you!!!
  12. I've had very good experiences with both the NFU and Arborisk.
  13. Great story!!! He sounds like one hell of a guy!!!
  14. I don't think anything in life is a test, there is no one behind the scenes making life good for some and less good for others. Life is random, sure we can influence things to an extent, with health diet and life style can help, but its by no means a guarantee and life can be incredibly unfair. I know many say things such as "everything happens for a reason" personally I think this is nonsense and can be pretty offensive to some. We all have to play the best game we can from the cards we are dealt, we can learn from our own lives and the lives of others and this makes dealing with things easier and can improve the outcome. I may have misunderstood your post Rich, if you saying that overcoming lives difficulties makes you stronger and better equipped to cope with whatever is around the next corner I totally agree! But please don't think that this illness is a test sent by some power to see what your made of. Good luck and I hope things go well
  15. It was fully comp mog insurance, every fully comp policy I've ever had has covered other motors third party, the front of the document implied as much, but the small print said different, even the bobby was surprised. The magistrates were very good and gave me the lowest fine and points they could.
  16. It was about 14 years ago, no insurance, not really my fault, a clerical error, got fined £100.
  17. What did you spend it all on Tony????
  18. They do, I was up for a motoring offence and they wanted my last 3 years year end accounts.
  19. Page 148 of the Sentencing Guidelines. . . "3. The aim is for the fine to have an equal impact on offenders with different financial circumstances; it should be a hardship but should not force the offender below a reasonable ‘subsistence’ level
