  1. You wouldn't want that on your toe!!!
  2. Eucalyptus really opens up when drying, I had some rings that were left in the sun, they got huge splits in them.
  3. That sounds excellent, do you have a link??
  4. 5 years!!!!! Wow!!! where do the time go?????
  5. Do you have any friends or family further south who could forward stuff on if posted to them???
  6. Not sure I could cope, midges seem to really like me and my eyes and lips swell once bitten, not good How do the sheep cope? do they get badly bitten???
  7. Nice clean straight timber can be almost a pleasure to split by hand, but it does not take many twisty, knotty or stringy bits to really sap your strength, IME.
  8. I don't know how you guys cope with the midges
  9. It does, the barrel fuel tank is ace
  10. Not used one, but they look very domestic.
  11. Hehe I've live in the shadow of Pendle my whole life, although you were "tuther side O hill". Did you get chance to see the collage?? Stunning place
  12. You have a fantastic view!!!!! I had no idea it was so nice on the moon:thumbup1:
  13. I'm keeping the magic anyway, so thats always an option, time will tell.
  14. Yes if I did not need the billets for the boiler that would be the way to go, but I think the Posch splitmaster is the best thing for billets, we are already trying to bring timber home in meter lengths.
  15. But my billets will be of a size that requires splitting after they are cut.
  16. Not sure, I've had it a long time, I bought it when they first came out, great machine, very safe
  17. Maybe, but there not really any much better ways of dealing with arb arisings. We bring home a fair bit of branch wood and smaller trunks that will go straight through the 300, so I recon it will beat ringing it up and splitting. The fact that we have been paid to remove the wood in the first place rather than buying in, plus RHI on the kiln, means speed is not a huge issue, I'm not looking to do thousands of cubes, just keeping the yard clear and bit of extra income is all I'm after.
  18. Yes I have a Thor 12.5 magic, which I have been using for logs and billets, but with bigger stuff I find it pretty heavy going, gravity is the problem, I think getting the lumps to waste hight and keeping them there till they are finished is the secret. Time will tell
