  1. Also I tip my chip for free, hedge cuttings have to be paid to tip off.
  2. Small job and can fit it in with the one allready booked and its in the same area?
  3. My over heads are still the same if im doing hedges or trees so i dont see why i should go out any cheeper for hedges. a day for two or three of us needs to earn an certain amonut what ever. Do you price a day for two guys cheeper hedge cuttiong than a day tree cutting?
  4. Got a hedge job tomorrow, the home owner fell off the ladder a couple of years ago and broke his back and has since had a gardener do it. He wants it cut and for one reason or another the garderer cant do it, so asked me to quote which was more expensive but still got the job.
  5. Hedge, trees, stump gringing what ever the job may be the money has to be the same.
  6. I like hedge cutting and include it in my services, a couple of weels ago i went to look at a hedge that had been cut badly, the lady asked for a price to sort it out. My price turned out to be twice as much as the gardeners and after a think she accepted and was pleased with the finnished job. out of that I have had some stump grinding, took out a load of pyracanther and now have a small copse of sweet chestnut to remove over the winter.
  7. Your right, he did get his job done but not to a verry high standard but I wasnt having him ring me up saying that i was so much more expensive and i should lower my prices. I made it clear that i was happy with my price and and just explainde that both quotes he got couldnt possibly be compared.
  8. He thought the other guy was a "propper" tree surgery company so it then went down the lines of how many companys work the day to earn them selves £60.
  9. By the time i told him daily yard rate, fuel, wages ect i made him realise that he had had a beer money gardener do the hedge a cutting and not a company with overheads ins ect.
  10. Quoted £325 for a job amonth ago, last week the guy rang me up to tell me that he had had it done for £60!

  12. Thanks Monkey D, I had read in the post that OPM was slow to spread and thought that they cant be that slow if they have got to Sheffield! Didn't realise that this new out break was from imported trees.
  13. A bit off topic but relevent to the OPM paragraph, A consultant that I spoke to on Tuesday mentioned that the moth had spread to Sheffield, Is this true?

  21. I hate arseholes with loads of money and think they can do what they want! Once its built any one fancy squatting in a £8m house...................
  22. It says that they can be fined up to £20000 in court but am I right in saying that if there is monatary gains to be made for instance on a building site they can be fined up to the value of the property?
  23. Not used maniller rope for years, used to splice an eye on each end and use it as tool strops.
  24. Thats the Hamma! Ive got a G11 and as you can see havent got a clue how to use it!
