Ive got the G11, it was a presant for my 30. are you going to get the ring flash or any of the other attachments for it? I kept getting shadows when I took macro shots and was told to turn the flash off!

Any one know Keith Yates from Somerset way? He had to remove a wind blown tree from a house and I think the story goes that a crane couldn't fit down the lanes so the insurance company paid the RAF to come out with a Chinook. Keith climbed the tree attached the strop / chain from the hovering Chinook then climbed down and cut the stem from the root plate. The Chinook then lifted the tree away from the house and laid it down in a neighbours field. I watched the video when I was at Merrist Wood. They still have it, just ask at the library.

I went in DD to see what machines they had in the Hawley depot as I need a dumper and 3t digger for another job and to get prices. I saw the Ant but it was bust, shame cos it looked a good machine. Al, how long ago did you have the avant off them as if the 4x4 isn't working they can give me a cheaper price, was it a green mustard sort of colour. (cant really tell as im colour blind! I think Merrist wood are expensive anyway, search around and you should find them cheeper!

On ring porus type trees the later in to the season the smaller the vessels get, so less fluid. Need to do and read up!!

The fluid must stay in the tree over winter or else the vessels will just be filled with air, Cavitation.

Just an idea but how about all the info being put on a computer program which could be used on iPhone, tablet PC etc. So much more info could be put on there and it could be done in a way where you can enter characteristics of the fungi to whittle the choice down. once correct id is found then you can get all the info you need. im crap with computers but there getting smaller, more power full and used more, just a thought Easy to use and so much more info can be accessed in a small package and the other good thing is if you write more info or add or change it in some way people can down load the extra info from you. Also people could take photos of fungi and up load it to you to check of abnormalities for example the candle snuff I put up and then the pics can be added to the collection that every one downloads. So your work can evolve easily without having to buy loads of books

I found it on the floor in dead bracken in merrist wood woods, no log just in the open.

Took these on Wednesday, think there Candle-snuff fungus, Xylaria hypoxylon and saprophytic.

Thats it, looks like theres 2 versions, id go for the more expensive ones with metal band in.
