How do I know if it is a ton I am getting? Do you have a weighbridge? Is it calibrated? I will only pay for any Ash but i will take other wood if you load it for me.

And you have to drop the Engine to change the spark plugs.

Fair enough. On the motorway it felt like it could have done with another gear. The cab was cramped. It had pretty much no torque untill the turbo kicked in. I think the manufacturers are asking alot from a little engine,I wouldn't want to tow 3.5 ton with it anywhere except on a Salt lake.

I borrowed a brand new one on the weekend to tow a little 6" chipper to a port. I found that it was woefully underpowered,towing even 700kg sucked all the life out of the engine. The cab was pretty cramped in the front with two 6`plus blokes in it. I think if you wanted a wagon to ponce about the high street in,then its a winner.But for serious work you might look for something else.

Charge your tanks from a workshop compressor,there is a fitting on the side of the drivers side tank that will take a quick coupling in conjunction with an adapter.Take the fitting in to the shop with you. If it still wont take the brakes off and you can't hear air escaping from the brake handle then its probably the valve that feeds the handle.(HGV supplier will have that valve) if you can't unstick it (it will come apart) Check your Air dryer on the side of the mog.Undo the reservior and get any water out of it.Put it back on and refill it with spirit (HGV shops sell this stuff for cheap).If its dry or there is water in there,any moisture plus corrosion from the tanks might have stuck the valve.There are two settings on the dryer summer and winter.Choose the one that suits you best.

Clean up the wide end and weld a bolt to it at right angles. Then slip a pipe over the bolt and work the pin out.Once you get the pin rotating in the holes it should come out,or tap the pipe with a hammer. I guess you have tried punching it out with a punch or similar after warming it up?

Are you having trouble getting the Pin out that holds the ram in place or the pin that works the linkage?

If its not a Dodge rear Axel,it could be off a Jeep. Take the picture down the local Gay Bar and ask the patons,they will be experts on "Willys". Best of luck.

Whats wrong with the Rams? A new set of seals are not very dear.Most hydraulic shops could replace them for you for not much money,or you could do it yourself with some simple tools. Vice,pipe wrench,something to pick the seals out like a smal screw driver.

I use syntrans in the gearbox and normal AP 90 in the Diffs and Hubs.The Hubs are just a couple of large Bearings and the Diffs can't have too many mysterys to them surely?

If you only pull them on the induction stroke,you never get bitten by the starter handle on a big saw.

Saying that Reg endorising solo climbing will lead to new commers hurting themselves is akin to arguing that televisning motor racing leads to road deaths. People should be allowed to make decisions themselves,trail and error.Unfortunatly many people are afraid to step outside the rule book.A book often written by people with little experiance in the game or financial interest. Look at the AA allowing companies to bring in Subbie Climbers for the Climbing part of the AA assement.You may as well set up a yard that companies can hire for a day,a yard that exisits only to comply to the letter with the AA requirements.

Pretty much all the old houses here are made from Scots Pine. Its very rot resistant (the heartwood).

It seems to be.My house is made from Scotspine,Beams,rafters,flooring,cladding. Been standing for 110 and some bits of it much longer.

20 years ago if you wanted a start in the industry,you had to get a job first.Not enroll in a Colledge course you could never fail. If you were not up to the job,you were fired.There was no entering the job at Climber level.You started by dragging brush. Contract Climbers used to be guys that had more abiliy than their full time Employer had difficult jobs.So they would go off and mainly do the bigger Trees for a number of Companies or smaller out fits.Now "Contract Climber " often means recent College graduate with more gear than the space program and both Arms covered in Tattoos show the "story of his life" all 22 years of it. This isn't a thread about blokes banging on about how great they were or how much better things might have been in the days of Real Ale and Woodbines.
