  1. What does it do? Not being funny but it looks like a Farm Tractor crossed with a Grapple Skidder.
  2. My Rope Wrench got bent Paul,I beat it with a Hammer to straighten it.She'll be right.
  3. The base of the Tree is often Damp.Everything is often damp in Western Norway:001_smile: When I pulled it off,a chunk of the Bark came too.
  4. I think it depends on the type of kit and its potential to increase your profit. If you have a knackered chipper that breaks down alot, costs you more in the way of time over-run and repair costs. Then what you pay in finance might be the same as just the time lost per month with your old rig. This year I bought a newer wagon to replace my 1990 model.I hummed and arrrd but despite is highish cost, its ment that I have spent no time fixing it in nearly a year.
  5. I found this growing about six inches from the ground on a Mature Oak Tree. The Crown of the Tree was sparcer than normal. Can anyone tell me what the Fungus is? The fruiting body is about 1.5 inches across and was bright yellow similar to a Egg Yolk in colour when I found it.
  6. Haha, that sounds like my regular dealings with my local saw shop in Norway. two to three weeks wait for any parts to arrive. If they get the parts right.
  7. Here are some more pictures of the days frivolities.
  8. No New Zealand in the late 1990´s.
  9. There once was a shortage of Climbers, the shortage no longer exists. Now the supply infact exceeds demand and as a result the wages and price jobs command has fallen due to competition. Just like ten years ago I was on £120 per day climbing in London.Ten years later the same wage prevails, this not not due to stupidity or greed but market forces.
  10. Chipper manufactures could stamp the Serial number into a part like the frame or Oil tank where its difficult to cut and weld a new part into.If the serial number was in the approximate place on all machines it might be easier to id and harder for crims to cut and shut them? IF there was "stolen chippers.co.uk" where you could post up the serial number of your lost machine that might help too.
  11. My Dad made a Spit Roast machine using the Cogs and Chain from an old 10 speed Bike using a small Electric Motor to power it.From memory it took about 12 hours to Roast a 100lb Pig. Crush up Cloves and put them in with 2lb of Honey thinned out with Cheap Whisky, keep painting it on a few hours from when you are ready to serve.
  12. That has nothing to do with the statement you made about earning £35 per hour and up though.Sweden or Norway, that figure is alot higher than any rate I have heard of in the Six years I have worked in Scandi. Are you paying your Tax in the UK?How can you deduct the "Vat" off your expenses and file a "Vat" return in Sweden when paying income Tax in the UK? A guy a heard of subbed in Sweden back in the early 2000's,ran off with the lot of it and bought two Houses in the UK under his Mothers name.Few years later the tax man scooped the lot.
  13. Perhaps just re water proof your existing one? You have to treat Goretex periodically, any outdoor store will have the fluids you need.
  14. Is that including the MVA (VAT)? How much do you pocket at the end of the week? If I could get a job earning that kind of money I would jack in my company and leave all the bs/stress/hassel to my employer.350 Nok per hour over eleven months is 616K per year or 50% higher than the average wage here in Norway.Mate, hook me up and I will be over like a shot. Over here its not possible to work for one outfit more than 2.5 days a week and call yourself self employed. To many companies were dodging the 14% "employers tax" ontop of the employes gross wage. Seems like alot of guys are registering their companies in the UK,going out subbying and not declaring Tax back home. All well and good untill the tax man comes knocking on the Door.
  15. Lots of Americans did, during the 1960's mainly.
  16. Great! I will be needing a month off four days after i start and a new Protos Helmet and one of everything in the STEIN Equipment Cataloge.
  17. Call all the employers you can find in New Zealand. You will get free training as well as a job.You will learn a hell of a lot more about the nuts and bolts of tree work on the job than you will ever learn on a course. No matter how long in duration or prestigious it may sound.
  18. but i've got cs30/31!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  19. Is it a CH160? Like this one? Because if it is,it will always be greif. It was never designed as a Brush Chipper. They were designed to make big chips for heating pellets. That info came from the Factory in Finland.I had one,it was such a pile of shitte i was estatic to pass it off before I filled it with cement and sank it.
  20. Your better off going to the Southern Hemisphere for the Northern Winter, than further North . Generally employers anywhere are after someone who can fill a role with minimal training,if I interpreted your post correctly then your pretty new to this industry and there for better off getting some more experience before heading abroad.
  21. I don't know who you have been working for Paul. But thats all we do here in Norway.Never use a Chainsaw us,we go to work in a Prius and eat Lentils from a Communal Bowl. Seriously though. You would be better saving some Wedge and making inquiries come Spring. Also getting to know the pay-scale and where abouts you might be on it. Stories of "My mates on £35 an HOUR in Oslo" are many, but the reality is those days are over.
