  1. I've found the ring loopsto be great once you get a bit of time to start playing with diff configurations. I'll post some pics once I get back from working away. Nothing that cantbe done without them but they make the wholesetup a lot neater and tidier. It's this sort of gear that advances the arb industry and proves that we work very safely at height.
  2. I've got that line on my pinto too from the retrieval shackle getting sucked up to.
  3. Hey Craig, nice bro. I've done the same on my pinto but used ap- how did you find doing the second eye? I made mine quite short and the second eye was a bitch to milk in and remove bagginess from the eye.
  4. Hey Adam, I think browncow is meaning an inline anchor off an srt line. Personally I try and have the srt line left as the access line only. It gives me a little bit of confidence on big trees knowing that some sort of access is available for any potential rescue, though if it starts getting in the way of rigging lines etc I'll remove it.
  5. Same here John, soft eyes all the way. The pinto works well at retrieval too:)
  6. Let us know when you've got it Sussed bro:)
  7. nah bro-id bought the isc just before the impact came out.ah well............

Yeah I reckon that is sweet.it might cinch down though and pull together. Would it leave a bumpy knot that would stop it retrieving easily? If that's what your using it for.
  9. Watching the tv3 footage now. It looks pretty nasty.
  10. The friction on the branch means the core and outer can move differently. Not so much of an issue with a climbing line but the effect still happens.
  11. If you mean an end to end splice on double braid rope bro, yes it is. There remains a small lump where it joins but still sweet to run through a pulley. I've seen some access lines joined up to extends length that ran through ascenders fine.
  12. Yeah used is a nightmare. Goodeffort though bro, keep at it.
  13. Menno and jelta held an intro down in dunedin last year but I'm unsure if they have another in the pipeline. I'd be keen Craig it's just were an 8 hr drive apart. Unless we met up in taupo;)
  14. If splicing straight onto the ascender, remember to put a plastic or metal thimble in the eye. and say goodbye to using the ascender for anything else!! my kong with the ap version is sat doing nothing as i cant bring myself to cut the splce off as the whole thing took a while to do...........
  15. Heres my take on the micro frog. Ive used tenex for this one but ive also got one made from armour prus (way more time consuming to splice). The elastic from body futura clips onto my helmet strap with just enough tension to keep it upright (a bonus is that it makes me do my helmet up before climbing). the woopie section allows me to cinch it tight onto my left foot. This makes for a tiny setup that weighs nothing and only uses one carabiner.
  16. 100% luck bro. i mean judgement..................
  17. 25m pine that we took the head off and felled. landed pretty close to the residents fence:001_smile:
  18. Just some pics of sap weeping from large fig tree and some old wounds from the splitting. Does this relieve the built up pressure? The trees are covered in this
  19. Bottom 2 are from an elm and top 3 are from camphor laurel. Cheers Hama:)

Mainly because I had 8mm lying around to be honest mate. If I was splicing an eye then I'd use 10mm but as it's just stitched together 8mm was less bulk. Some of my friends are rocking 6mm globe for rg's- absolutely tiny lightweight rg's.
  21. I reckon it's up to you bro, it's a long way if you don't find a job so some people may prefer the security of knowing they have work sorted before they travel.

Yeah bro, cheap as chips. No splicing needed either. Just 8mm Sirius, bit of stitching and a retrieval shackle.

Yeah it's the rig Ben, I can't imagine the smaller one not allowing a spliced eye through.
  24. Cheers, it's not like a big removals but still a lot of work. Went to the festival tonight with about 50 000 others, felt pretty cool knowing we had hung all the lights in the trees. Just over 250000 will attend over the weekend.
  25. I use op but it's started to herniate at the d ring. The core has started popping through the cover.
