  1. all good then! nice work
  2. does it retrieve though bro?
  3. do you not find it harder to climb on really fine branches without putting more weight on them? especially comin back in? Do you guys normally anchor at the base of tie in at the top?
  4. hey adam, definetly. maybe organise am srt trial day or 2? pretty sure weve got enough gear to try everything out for a cple of people..
  5. hey bro, my whipping on blaze is normally about that far down as ive snapped a cple of needles too-amazing how hard the throught of blaze gets for such a soft rope.
  6. told ya bro:)
  7. i do a lot of the time mate as well, i just use this normally on the really spreading trees that use a lot of rope. tbh a lot of the time i find i climb back towards the redis i set anyway but sometimes this setup makes life way easier
  8. if you get up to aucks bro we will have a couple of unicenders for you to have a play with-i personally cannot get on with srt work but love it for access.
  9. I believe the domian is the oldest oak grove in nz-the early settlers tried to mimic what they left behind. The main parks in auckland are predominantly european trees for this reason.
  10. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nt5fMdE3tKo]YouTube - inline redi 2[/ame] does this explain better??
  11. yeah i think the volcanic soil must have something to do with it, the ones that fall over are all planted on ancient calderas. sometimes its really clay like so i imagine the compaction from people (these are very popular parks) gets pretty bad.
  12. yep. hey ben, how do you find it? i find it way too cramped to be worth the effort but it is efficient on the real big ascents
  13. Dirk Lingens Knot book is a great book with nearly all the modern climbing hitches
  14. the pinto is superb as a rope guide, floating anchor etc.. good seeing new variations on how stuff is configured though bro, good work
  15. i find the hc works way better and tidier than the pinto.......
  16. yep sure is. we may be reducing all the oaks on domain drive because of this. no cabling works down this road for many many years...
  17. another one falls with no roots,i think thats the 5th so far in 12months,amazing they keep missing people
  18. http://www.google.co.nz/url?url=http://www.youtube.com/watch%3Fv%3DTtqmTSLeSPE&rct=j&sa=X&ei=C7m7TbvaHoaEvAOt86TYBQ&ved=0CB0QuAIwAA&q=dbtree+site:youtube.com&usg=AFQjCNHqd7gON_pIpr1wjDN2zwqm1D0FEg its an old vid but shows the setup. you can replace the handled ascender with your vt/hc combo and just hold onto pulley-its not perfect but works. start by taking small steps and just concentrate on building a rhythm-dont worry about going quick. Try to keep as upright as possible so that your feet push downwards not out behind you, this keeps the rope straight and means it feeds through the ascenders easier. and remember to carry a fig 8 for descent! next time your in aucks we can through it all bro-its hard to do via a keyboard
  19. hey bro, what gear do you already have? ie ascenders etc

  21. correct on all of the above! I attach a small ball to my climbing line about 1-5ft above my spliced eye. I then tie a marlin spike under my hitch and clip the bottom crab into it.i then advance my spliced eye and hitch up to the redi and watch for the small ball to pass through and connect onto the trapeze shackle, keep pulling and the shackle opens the ropeman which inturn opens the cinch. Both then slide off the rope and redi is now off the branch. The redi stays on your line via the hns crab and you just pull the whole system back to you and remove from the rope. Hopefully ill get a better video done tomorrow that explains it all.
  22. haha cheers bro! a splice makes it not work so sweet-if not id of spliced the **** out of it..
  23. just bought a top hat and now off to a friends to celebrate-any reason to have a few drinks and forget about the problems of the world is good in my eyes. The whole world is focusing on the uk and is something that the uk should be proud of. i raise a glass for you sire.........
  24. this is how i setup my o rig bro-this allows you to have the hitch next to you for close control (descent or going out on a branch) or away from you ( for ascending or returning in from a branch walk). you have to make sure your hitch works well and will bite without any adjustment. using a rope guide, pulley saver, etc and a revolver on your bridge makes this a very easy system to adjust without unclipping any carabiners. i prefer using the little hitch cord as an adjuster rather than a ropeman.
  25. ill get some pics today of how to streamline that system using a hc hopefully.
