  1. Love the description on the link " extra light weight". Heavy boots but brilliantly well made. I wore the sole off mine but it's easy to get a new vibram sole glued and stitched on
  2. Yeah I can't make the arb camp but im flying over for the woodvale comp-it's at port Macquarie oct 27-28. So lanyards......
  3. Hmmm possibly but I don't see any advantage- I'm unsure how cut resistant it is despite the marketing. Looks like I'll have to try and cut when in the shop on wed.
  4. Yeah I thought it was too big but I'm sure it would work just as well. You going to the wood vale comp btw?
  5. Nah, the tritech is slightly too big for the cinch and I really rate it as a lanyard
  6. Here's mine. Sterling tritech, 6mm OV ang globe 6mm globe.
  7. Because its such a short piece of rope it doesn't really matter too much. Personally I use sterling tri tech as its quite stiff so a good middle ground between a soft light rope and a heavy but easily flippantly steel core. Adding a small 6mm globe or OV Prussic gives you a few more options on how you anchor to branches. I use a captive eye isc crab and run the lanyard through the eye, this way I don't need a pulley. There are a LOT of options.....
  8. Donaghys sell dyneema whoopie slings, as long as the rigging is all pretensioned and not shock loaded I can't see too much if a problem. Bloody light.
  9. Throw bag goes hitech.... Nice one bro
  10. Yes mate, grab the petzl catalog- its got a lot of info of diff setups and configs
  11. Those AKUs look good boots
  12. Totally agree but that was just the simplest way of explaining the setup.ite ez enough to thread th throw line through the ring and pulley whilst installing so you just have the right length you need.
  13. I normally get the anchor I'm going to use but I'll just use a sling and biner and make steno higher one if needed. I don't actually worry about retrievability of gear anymore as set is so easy to go back to stuff. I've got the bfly tied halfway on my rope with ring and crab already set up. I'll attach my rope to throw line, pull it through Te crotch and down, then through the ring and pinto and it's set, just cinch up tight. Or dbrt up and then set a perfect Anchor. Options options options....
  14. i like these http://s3.backcountry.com/900/SFW/SFW0023/SFW0023-CHA.jpg
  15. some srt pics of the ring anchor. you work on the non alpine bfly side. the ring cinchs up snug against the limb and the bfly traps it. to retrieve it just pull the bfly side down and the ring follows>hence the throwline from bfly to ring. the crab is just a backup. i use a pinto if i think a few redirects will be in place when i descend out. the 2nd pic is that.. hope that helps ewan..
  16. I'd contact greig at ArbAid- I'm sure he will be able to help you out with contents for a personal first aid kit.
  17. 26 bro, i just had a full english..
  18. if it holds you, and it looks like it will, then its all good.
  19. its weird Ewan, it actiually works pretty damn good. ill get some pics of the setup of the ring tomorrow for ya with the pinto installed..
  20. hey ben, if you use the ring idea and your going to be doing a few redirects, i chuck a pinto on the crab to make the retrieval a bit smoother..
  21. With the TCIA releasing a comprehensive best practice guideline to srt I don't think it's too much of an issue
  22. the yeah the old " this one doesnt look too bad to do" usually ends up with blisters ive found...
  23. hey craig i presume youre not doing the used rope splice instructions by samson?? if not, soak in water, flex the throat like crazy, milk the throat backwards, shock load it, a bit of olive oil may help, rubber mallet and so on. sometimes there just a bitch. what colour was the core? whens its brown you know its going to trouble but ultimately still do able
  24. what do you mean? possibly lost in the nz translation that one bro....
  25. O rig
