  5. Nice job, have you got any good pics of the damage caused by the lightning.......... Only asking as we do quite a few lighting kit installs and we are trying to build up a database of damage to trees caused by lightning:icon14:
  6. Yes i heard that, is there any in fo on how it happened, how he is etc?
  7. I know it makes sense for some one to check than not too at all which is generally what happens...... Its the powers that be that make the rules, i wish they could understand that if a tree is coming down an inspection to some extent even by an unregistered person is better than nothing... It is something that we are trying to rectify...
  8. yes its great..... if anybody is over near buckley i have left one in a wooded site....
  9. Ah sorry forgoy to reply..... If you use an endoscope to check for bats it is classed as disturbing a habitat and therefore illegal....... unless you are a registered bat worker etc.. The above statement is only true if there are bats in a hole etc, but you dont know until its in so the advice is not to do it. If you want an endoscope then for value for money those provision pv2 from dart systems are great.. Probably the 18" in length would be great for you and you will want a flexible model....... Again you cant check for bats in this methord as you will be classed as distubing any that are found and therefore breaking the law.. The course we are putting together for "the working arborist" will go over this and other regulations as well as showing you how to look for signs in other ways....
  10. very nice - always seem to forget the camera or the batterys run out when i find similar places etc:cussing:
  11. I am about to pop out, but will reply to this in full later.....
  12. See if you can do a day with each to feel them out... They should appreciate this:icon14: I personally like small biz, you will fit in and probably be a bit like a family rather than a number in a larger company.... The smaller company probably will give you more on job training, the larger may just send you off on courses....
  13. When i stated that if i disagree with something i will not do it full stop..... I was not referring to breaking the law etc, apoligies i should have made it quite clear that it was referring to work methords etc..... Thanks for your view
  14. Could you please expand on your comment "I see you are a law unto yourself"and also "I'm sure your bravado would take aback seat" many thanks:icon14:

  16. my wife finds your avatar rude.... i blomin love it
  17. You first say you havent got an opinion and then say you think it is wrong ??? If you don't agree with the techniques dont do them and pass the job to others that do..... If you dont agree with a methord you will never carry it out 100% correctly... If i disagree with something i will not do it, full stop.......
  18. The leaves tend to stop rustling in the wind and start clucking instead:wave:
  19. maybe even bacterial wet wood ?????
  20. These are prone to bleeding, but this smells of early bleeding canker, as you say there are marks on other side so - monitor 6- monthly and check for girdling of the stem - further bark damage etc etc:icon14:
  21. Most potential damage to bats is caused when doing this:scared: YOu really need to check any feature like that before ding this , you will be amazed how little a crack, tear or hole they need...
