  2. My wife reminds me you cant provide for your family when in a hospital bed or dead...... Access each day and each tree as if you want to go home and see your wife, kids etc and you will have a long career in the tree game:icon14:
  3. Pay the money and get trackers fitted to all your vehicles - also one of those pager alarms that pages you as soon as anybody blinks at your cars - also get the direct #'s for your local traffic cops....
  4. Try -Wirral Arb -Ken Linford Tree Care (leyland/preston area) -Nomad ( they have lots of work all over the North West)
  5. Starbucks - you cant be in the tree biz you must be a millionaire:wave:lol

  7. Well done Nick :icon14:

  9. Very nice - you have go a good eye for photos, you should put them on istockphoto.com
  10. Thanks Barney. Where it was parked was on the edge of a slope going down to the river - we had some hairy moments with it slipping towards the edge when reversing it in as the path was thin and full of damp leaves:scared:

  14. go to http://www.arboa.com you will see a far superior product than that of cobra... The owner/designer of arboa designed Cobra and has knocked the crap out of it with this new offering:icon14:
  15. Deadwood only adds character to a tree, the tree will chose when to get rid of it..... The only time to deadwood is for safety reasons etc:icon14:
  16. Cobra is a brand name not a style of product.... Also cobra is somewhat dated now with far superior products made by gefa and arboa.....
  17. I am Qtra qualified - it is a great system that has its place... It wont be everyones cup of tea and you need to be a bit math minded. There are some tree mangement software suppliers that have it embeded in the system - this drastically speeds the qtra process up. If using the wheel it can be a pain in the arse, but i take all data and place on a excel template.... If you do a lot of inspection work and get to use qtra often then its great, i wouldnt recommend the course to anyone who will only use it occasionally..
  18. Do it by the book every time, like matt says its not that expensive and it is billed to the client. If i price a job and lose out because of cost due to doing by the book i dont care.... A reputation takes an age to build and a second to destroy...
  19. We did an aerial inspection of tree - no bats were present so we used exclusion techniques to make sure no bats started to reuse between inspection times and tree removal.... We also carried out dawn & dusk surveys of the tree. Natural England specified that bat boxes be placed in surrounding trees as mitigation.. Although only bat boxes were specified we like to add extra nmitigation around the site using our "natural roost features"
  20. sorry to hear that - quad theft is rife up here
  21. We recently had to take this down - it was surrounded by paths and in awful condition at basal area...
  22. Dont try and scratch your leg when on the running machine - it really hurts:cussing:
  23. what part of cumbria are you in ?
  24. Walking the dogs on the mors at the back.... Walking through local woods recording bat roosts (sad isnt it)
