  1. yes it comes in handy, i still like doing it from climbing when i can but doing it from the mewp makes it so easy....
  2. Hi David the tree had 9 Noctule bats in it, we used a large log and cut it too size then used ratchet straps to hold it in place, i will add some more pics when i get time to resize them..... the mewp is a lionlift 18m tracked, very useful when doing various bat surveys and works... chris
  3. some pics of radial trenchin, done for defra and Natural England on some extremly important chestnuts... Felling of a knackered H chestnut and finally doing some work to a tree full of bats - we capped the top to stop water entering the roost through winter storm damage......
  4. I was actually waiting for the BOGOF window man to appear and give us his hard sell.....
  5. Just wached the video, my question is does it come with that in built radio playing that lovely music or is it an optional extra
  6. The best thing about my 110 is that it quite fast with all the mods to the engine, when you shoot past them on the motorway they look at you with that what the f*!* face.
  7. well spotted should be 86inch series 1:icon14:
  8. if you hear no clunks and no squeaks you need to worry. if there is no water dribbling into the cab be really worried............ clunking and squeaking is your land rover talking to you, telling you how she is...
  9. Land Rovers anyday i run : -82" series 1 -300tdi 130 tipper -300tdi 110 hardtop with all mods to the engine -td5 90 ( well thats the wifes) - managed to convert her from her nasty little jap sports cars, now she wouldnt have anything else.. I use the 110 daily and for all my long runs - i return about 28-30mpg even when towing on the motorway - she(the 110) does about 1200 miles per week - i run her on bio diesel 69p - 72p a litre at the moment. There is no conversion needed for the 200 and 300tdi engines.. get a land rover a timeless classic that will never age. chris
  10. We have been carrying out decompaction and myc treatments for several years and there is no way in which a soil treatment would help that tree...... Infact it would probably speed up the decline of it.... The only possible way of securing the future of that tree would be to qtra it to access the risks associated to the general public. If the risk factor was low enough you could argue the case to keep the tree... It is important to remember that soil treaments are only a positive influence in certain curcumstances. (mulching a tree is often better and cheaper ).We have disposed of our myc rigs as they offer little benefit in this country, we also couldnt justify the costs compared to the benefits to our clients. We now know that the best decompaction and treatments are from airspading and vertical mulching using locally sourced mulch.... hope that helps chris http://www.airspade.co.uk
  11. Air spading could help, we deal on a daily basis with mature and ancient trees, decompaction has breathed new life into many trees in retrenchment and decline. We have even seen positive results within a couple of months. Mixing in a mycorrhizal fungi is also beneficial.. Also while on site an inspection of the roots can take place.. Chris
