That will probably be Bingley logs, he tried to get me to supply him a couple of years ago, you see his tranny all over the place he seems to not do the hard work of splitting himself just pays pittence for a load and sells it on for a fortune.... I suppose thats the way to do it if you can find some mug to do all the hard work for you.
  2. Either keep all your old knackered saws etc or buy knackered ones and leave at front of lock up, will be first to be nicked and all your good stuff will be left, also when they get back and realised everything is crap they wont bother you again......

  7. The tree looks to be in a serious state of decline, if you reduce too much you will push the tree over the edge...... Again air spading will also stress the tree too much... A myc treatment will help prolong the life of the tree but not cure... Do you have any more pics of the stem to show the extent of the girdling ? The best way to deal with these is to remove any targets and also remove the worse affected branches. Get some one in to qtra the tree if you are uncertain about poss of failure and chance of causing harm:icon14:
  8. True and well said:icon14:
  9. ahhh re read the post my confusion, was only scanning the previous posts..... If i remember correctly a standard 110 axle and a sailsbury axle are both rated to carry the same weight, the beefing up to the sailsbury axle was designed is so that it can deal with more abuse.....
  10. Everyone worries about axles etc, a standard axle will be fine for most things unless you put 3ton on the back and find a track with the biggest pot holes ever......
  11. I have recently upgraded my brakes, the landy is like an f1 car now when braking - actually maybe not that good but i am impressed, i will find out 2morrow what was put on and postthe details.....

  17. The problem is many of the Tree Officers in the North West have to explain all this to managers above them, many of which have worked there way off the bins and into those positions, they dont understand that you may need an item of kit to do the job safely/efficently etc as they have no clue about the job...... I have admaration for LA tree folk as they have to put up with alot of crap and struggle to justify there jobs over bin men for usually many £'s less.... Thats my experience of the North Manchester/North Wset area ....... Maybe budjets are bigger down south and you are lucky..
  18. I havent heard anyone use the word undercrackers for ages, bravo
  19. You have got to love the councils, eveyday they find another way to s%*t on staff... If only they lived in the real world they would have a bloody shock:scared:

  21. Hold Tight, T here is a new product due to be lauched in the next few weeks that will revolutionise tree planting, it is a really simple and relativly cheap product that has been substantially tested, suprise suprise it is from Germany and is designed by Mr Cobra Cable Bracing, he has also developed a fantastic new cable bracing system, also due to be launched - lovely.....
  22. Do you do alot of fracture pruning, we do a fair bit, how do you find it? i find i do best when i dont try to focus on it too much......
  23. Nice job steve and nice sized tree, is it me or are the bigger trees getting thin on the ground ???? Saying that we are removing a 110ft beauty next week that is shot and has bats, will see if i can dig out the picus results.... Will take some pics to add.
  24. An iphone will last all of 2 secs in this job, my wife has one and it gets damaged when knocking into the pocket tissues in her bag..... You need something rugged or something that you can get a rugged case for...... The blackberry is well catered for. Also all the new blackberrys have decent cameras on them..
  25. Hi steve, i use a blackberry 8320, it is fab for keeping up to date with emails. They are a little delicate but i have solved this by getting a otterbox cover for it. Its the first time a phone has lasted more than 2 months for me, so if you get one you should definately get an otterbox.... http://www.psalmgear.co.uk/blackberry-cases.html
