1. i like the sounds of this setup, but after seeing that the grab is £50 ive gone off the idea. you could always make one with a pully and friction hitch tho. might try one. i wouldnt want a silky hanging next to my saw. why not try a sawpod?
2. i normally retrieve it when im still in the tree. but your right, it needs to be checked before use. i havent damaged it yet tho.

Query

23 trees is alot. even if they are straight fells. if they are as big as you say thats alot of cutting/dragging/chipping.
4. here is my setup

Spikes

ive got the baslins. i think they are good. the spike seems to be a good size and shape but the pads arent very comfy. id like to put some new pads on mine.
6. anyone used one of those guillotine splitters? i ****** my hand on one of these a few years back.
7. i love my boxing, was at the joe calzaghe fight last month. hatton has a chance but unless he knock him out i dont see him winning on points in the us. mayweather isnt a big hitter so i dont see hatton getting stopped by ko. his cuts could be a problem tho. theres a good fight on itv tonight khan vs earl. i hope earl knocks his head off.
8. i havent been climbing very long and height is a facter for me, i do slow down the heighter i get. but i get more nerves about the state of the wood then the height. been doing a far few pops lately, nothing massive, they do worry me sometimes.
9. this is no **** but a guy who worked with my brother inlaw jumped off the back of a truck and as he jumped he knock a broom over at the same time. he landed with the broom handle up his ass! he was off for months with massive internal injuries.

oh dear

its not you we should feel sorry for, think about poor jimmy who got home from school to find his favourite toy in pieces!
11. that looks nasty mat, how did it happen exactly? ive had a bad week as well, i had my 26 and top handle stolen the other day. im down to a 3yr old 200 with a nackered carb.
12. my not sure that a vt is a good knot for less experienced climbers. try a blakes on a split tail. this is a hitch to tryout. if your using a prussik loop why not try a klemheist.
13. if you dont use a spliced eye then a mal that has been tightened with some type of locktight stuff is going to be safer then a crab.
14. does it have a metal handle to tighten it on the strap? if that took a wack from a log it could break. i think i would prefer a sling.
15. my crab goes thro my cab savers loop. if your using a mal then your going to have to take it apart to get your pulley as your spliced eye isnt going to fit thro your pulley.
16. if you climb with a spliced eye your not going to want a mallion imo.
17. forget the shape of the krab, i dont understand why you have this system. its none retrievable? doesnt make sense to me. all you have to do is pass the crab thro loop end of you cambium saver with pulley attach to it. as long as you have a spliced eye or a small stopper knot on the end youll never have to climb up and get it. with your system you might as well us a £4 sling instead of a cambium saver.
18. i dont like your setup. i have my crab going through the end loop of the cambium saver then lose the small ring and the shackle. then put the pulley on the crab. much better.
19. i used to goto parks as they are council your less likely to piss off someone.
20. 12" has more power and cuts quicker. i also think it is easier to handle in tight situations. i might goto 12, tried it once and liked it.
