    kerf cut

im talking about heavish stems that have been stripped. cutting the middle of the hinge out instead of making the hinge really thin.

the cuts were made on the ends of the hinge itself.

anyone ever put them at the ends of the hinge? thats the way i was shown when i started but now i put them below. also does anyone ever cut the middle of their hinge out if they are having problems pulling a stem over by hand?

never thought about vt's on fliplines before. what size cord are you using? ive got big hands and 11mm feels too small for me. what size cord would us use with a 13mm line whilst using a vt?
  12. exactly, the guy i climb for has a pool of about 5 climber all different standards. if its a tricky one then he gets the more experienced climbers in for it. be honest and go for it. ive turned down doing rotten tree and im not losing sleep over it, he got someone with more experience and bigger balls in to do it.
  13. ive always been self employed. be honest, at the end of the day if you dont fancy it, dont do it. the worst thing that can happen is they wont have you back.

page 74 from the tree climbers knotbook. its meant to be an evolved distel. i use it with a pulley on my flip line. cant say its any different to a distel.

    sleeves

a guy i work with was lowering a hedge and a branch he was standing on snapped and he lost his balance. the arm sleeve stopped him from cutting his arm.

alright mate im using a butterfly 2 harness which i find a bit uncomfortable. 13mm climbing line with a split tail and blakes. i always climb with my wire flipline and i use a distel or a happy hitch with 8mm cord. i use a cambium saver with a pulley attached for bigger trees. bashlin spikes.

    sleeves

ive seen a fair few wearing them. ive also seen them protect climbers from accidents.

do you wear protective sleeves? i dont climb without one on my left arm, i feel naked without it.
  20. people tend to believe what they are told by people they respect. ive never used a greenmech but ive been told by someone who's been in the game a while that they arent great. he might be talking **** but id take his word on it. id like to give one a try out but havent used one. i have to say dont like the look of the combi shedder/chipper.
  21. ive travelled a bit and i think the uk has alot going for it. there are plenty of country worst then this one.
  22. this is a forum why make a post about it if peoples opinions arent welcome? isnt that the point of a forum? noone has been rude on this thread?
