are they any good? what is their stihl equivilent? im buying one for £150 secondhand.
  2. wasnt the top handle chainsaw marketed as a one handed chainsaw which anyone could buy? then loads of accidents later they decided to sell it as a two handed saw for qualified arborist only?
  3. what friction cord do you use? i just got some beal 8mm from a climbing shop for £1.10 per metre. its got a breaking strain of 1400kg, would this be strong enough for a vt on the climbing line? the same cord is for sale in buxtons for £1.70. i wouldnt recommmend buying friction cord from any arb shop it always pricey. also is it true that as the friction cord is doubled up on the rope its breaking strain is almost doubled as well?
  4. i work as a subby and do my own stuff on the side, im slowly getting more stuff and hopefully go solo next year. my advise is do the same. keep overhead low as possible. give woodchip/logs away instead of paying rent unless you can get something really cheap. subbing must be your bread and butter until you have enough work booked in. forget the partnership idea.
  5. our stump grinder guy went through a gas pipe. stump grinding is the worst thing for going through pipes/cables. i dont understand why councils plant cherries under cables. ive work on some with 6+ cables running through them.

    insurance

need to insure my chipper, trust will do it but i have to have public L insurance with them as well and i dont want that just yet. anyone have a clue? also can i get PL insurance for one month say? if so with who?
  11. we have someone who will take one down and put it up for £50. your not going to claim on insurance for a £10 fence panel.
  12. at my company we are meant to pay for all our damages, but sometimes we can get out of it. i we break it we try and fix it. as for equipment, alsot of times things break cuz of wear but our boss will blame us.:asshole2:
  13. not sure what happened, cut his calf open. wear some light weight c trousers.
  14. i want to learn how to splice ropes. can anyone point me in the right direction please.
  15. thanks cheap!, shame i just got some more hiflex today. how tough is the outer material? i know of a climber who cut himself badly wearing type a's.
  16. i find glass's steam up. also if you got kick back in the face would you want a visor or glasses on? a visor might not stop it but its better then nothing.
  17. buy some stihl hiflex type c's. they weight f**k all and no problems with over heating either. just a bit fragile, but i do alot of hedge lowering which is alot more hard wearing on trousers imo.
  18. i was told to use someting like that but if i dont want to buy new shackles everytime i replace my bridge.
  19. the rope thro the chipper, ha ha that suck. new silkies are sooo sharp, i never use one without gloves.
  20. i wear my hiflex type c's everyday. does anyone know if there are any other trousers with the same amount of layers but with better outer material? i find the hiflex rip too easy.

    weeping tree's

they were small, probably 20 foot. the thorns were nasty about i inch long, the bark was more like cherry then apple and it didnt have any fruit on it at that time. the leaves were small like crab
  22. that clip is funny, no ppe with foot on log! looked like softwood also, still cut very fast tho. bet the kick back on that mutha would be nasty.
