  1. But only when things go wrong... I am not advocating using non CE equipment just stating that there is no one out there to stop you. In ten years no one apart from people paid or employed by me have ever inspected my kit.
  2. It's not that late yet.. I had some advice from folk on here before, worked well for me: http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/business-management/62515-unpaid-invoices.html
  3. You will overload that then, weighed ours full of chip, 3 climbing kits, lowering kit, 8 saws, tool kit etc.. 6,650 Kgs - http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/arb-trucks/29792-iveco-6-5-a-3.html
  4. I have tensioned ziplines using pulleys before and it's always been a bit of a ball ache. Got my lad a slack line for chrismas which is basically a big ratchet strap. I reckon this could work well for tensioning a slack line..
  5. Peasgood is posting about Tacho requirements.. Not what you can tow on a licence. I am not sure he is right about that as I believe there is or a 100km exemption, either way it is totally different to what you are posting about.. I know nothing about tractors..
  6. I'd be much more likely to hire you and a van if it did NOT have your graphics on.
  7. Makes sense to me.. But if you burn it hot you shouldn't have any problems , just a reduction in efficiency. It seems to me it might become an issue when you do a slow burn.
  8. I don't agree, seasoned logs that have become wet will dry very quickly IMO. We season our logs outside only bringing it once split. Unless it has been sat on the floor it is dry pretty quick, although I have no moisture meter.. While I agree it is not recommended to burn wet logs. I ran out of wood over christmas and had to resort to split some gnarly old ash rings that had been sat on the floor for two years, it was sopping. Obviously it is less efficient but it burnt really well at a much better speed in my burner.. Didn't some one on her have a customer who used to put their dried logs in the pond? I guess the OP if questioning if the water from seasoned wet logs will cause the damage to the chimney liner which as I understand is caused by steam dissolving out flammable, acidic tars. I don't know the answer.. but my guess is that it will be less damaging as the steam will be on the outside so not passing through the wood as much as in unseasoned wood. I could be wrong however and my liner could fall apart.
  9. How about a setting to restrict you from checking it when you are supposed to be working!
  10. I have always only got tiny pics when going to arbtrader.. Went to get you a screen shot and it was fine.. So either you have fixed it or it's fixed itself...
  11. Customer had a man sized barrow on a job last week!
  12. Ditto. Threads often have loads of nice big photos but arbtrader often has a single tiny pic..
  13. It's about 30 miles further away then your Cannock depot so not really:001_smile:
  14. What happened to the damp mog..? As others have said payload will be pants, will turn like an oil tanker, but look great..
  15. Did a google search and arbtalk came up.. I was the OP.. 5 years ago:001_smile: Looking again for tracked chippers, used Orange plant in the past looking for someone closer..
  16. You can hire in the trailed machines pretty cheaply.
  17. Just before christmas (the day after receiving their bonus) two of my employees didn't turn up (you know who you are). One phoned in said he was sick... the other didn't come in. When I heard they had been seen heading out the night before I was pretty annoyed... it really messes up the day. The know show was local so I went round and dragged his ass out of bed! He'd got in at 5 in the morning. Not sure he enjoyed the day much... I think he still has nightmares about me in his house. Young lads do things that are stupid, give them a chance, if they continue doing stupid things there are plenty of others out there, some who are willing to work, even if they make mistakes someti:sneaky2:mes.
  18. He's got earplugs and eye protection, not sure a helmet is required for chipping:001_smile:
  19. For £20K you being an oldie and presumably having a pre 97 licence you could get a 6 toner and a real chipper! Would need an O licence, but worth it IMO.
  20. It was a shame that all the trees were felled, but I can't say I wouldn't have done the same if I had inherited the land.. Had the planners seen the trees they would have protected them and the land would have been more difficult/expensive to develop. One of the issues with 5837 IMO is that it is easier to get rid of everything at the start rather then risk having to work around enforced protection measures..
  21. I had a call today asking me to redo a survey I had done in November last year.. A number of the trees had been removed.. I spent ages recording all the trees, what a waste of time that was. I guess the 5837 survey restricted their layout. Took them a week apparently over 60 trees, done by a farmer and demolition man.... All burnt onsite, they have upset a few neighbours.. Some lovely mature trees including, walnut, tree of heaven, zelkova, persian iron woods, japanese maples..
  22. Dig your hole till you think it is deep enough.. then dig some more because you always have to go deeper..
  23. We have hired in a big machines on big grinding jobs in the past including a 78hp carlton and they are obviously MUCH quicker then the little bandits. We have also just hired in a guy with a big grinder and found that the cost of doing that was not much different and a lot less hassle then doing it ourselves..
  24. I've run two transits in the past and currently run a landrover 130, 6 ton iveco and 3.5 ton Isuzu grafter. IMO The LR130 is too small for most arb jobs, many disagree. It can tow 3.5 ton which is good and 4x4 is invaluable if required. Turning circle is SHOCKING! Not my favourite to drive when loaded and pulling a big trailer, it will stop just. Very cramped in the cab. The 6 ton iveco is great, carries a decent load. The main issue is the driving licence, its Ok if your an old fart. You also require O licence. On you pre 97 licence you can tow 2.25 tons. The Grafter, not had long but so far impressed, it is a proper truck can tow 3.5 tons carries a load well. Lots of room but potential to overload it. Amazing turning circle! Will pull a big trailer fully loaded and stop and start, loads of space in cab. Transits are OK, easy to overload and struggle with a big trailer.
