  1. Many years ago i worked at connick doing street trees in london. They had 4special wheel jacks that you put under each wheel and could then push cars out the way. I think they had to stop using them as cars were moved across the road and boxed in etc. People complained... I would be very carefull moving anyones car without permision as you would be liable for any damage.
  2. How many employed climbers are on a £31,200 salary ?
  3. And price.. I'll deffo be looking at the bandits when it is time to replace our 250
  4. Our 10 inch 250 Timberwolf will pretty much chip anything you can drag to it. You just need a bigger chipper..
  5. Definitely an option, as long as the tree owner is willing to pay regular survey and pruning costs. Another cheaper/lower risk option is to fell and replant.
  6. Page 121 THA and M. By the time that large fruit bodies of M. giganteus appear, especially on F. Sylvatica, it is likely that a high chance of windthrow exists... M. giganteus is one of the most dangerous decay fungi to be found on F. sylvatica. As I said things have moved on, but the tree in the OP is not an amazing specimen and the risk/cost required to retain the tree is probably not worth it IMO.
  7. A consultant is just going to cost extra. I know things have moved on a bit since londsdale recommended felling whenever you saw merip on beech, but it is a heavily reduced beech on the roadside, its days are numbered... IMO.
  8. Most folk here given the choice would rather be cutting trees then grass, therefore climbers should be paid less... and they cost a fortune to train. Not just in courses but it takes years to become a commercial speed climber. The employer has recoup the costs over time that they put into the climber..
  9. I think we must have the wide cab version as there is more room in the cab then in our Iveco 6 tonner.
  10. mercedes sprinter greenmech woodchipper system shredder sat nav reverse camera | eBay Been on sale for months..
  11. Did it come with a tow bar? Ours had the mounting point but not the tow bar. We've had to get one made to fit, interested as to what the original was like.
  12. Was your red.. Looks Like LAE Vehicle rental had a bunch......
  13. Not sure if it is still for sale: Isuzu NKR 77 TURBO ELECTRIC DI TIPPER | eBay We brought its sister a couple of weeks back, they are a real truck. So far pretty impressed. Looks like ours was leased to fountains (but not for arb). Isuzu NKR 77 tipper | eBay
  14. We use the Stihl Km130 with two 1m extensions. It's pretty long. 4m 48cm ..
  15. Can you hire the scaffold poles with the heras panels? is it a standard attachment?
  16. The whole point of tree protective fencing is that it is NOT just simple Heras fencing. It is supposed to be semi permanent. Heras fencing is simply moved by contractors when it is in the way. I have done it myself many times to get to trees on building sites.. I guess you could use scaffold poles to secure the heras panels.
  17. I have specified the standard BS5837 fencing numerous times over the years, but never installed any. Where do you get it? Can you hire it (East Midlands)? How much does it cost? Cheers.
  18. I have a split tree in a muddy paddock with some phone lines a road and various sheds. Anyone know or have a 4x4/tracked Mewp with or without operator for hire North of Derby, easy day. 14 m would probably just about reach..
  19. Sorry 28 tonnes max.. Vehicle Specifications | Biomass Logistics | Stobart Biomass | Services | Stobart Group
  20. We've sold about £2000 worth of chip this year. It's not going to make you rich but more than pays for loading. Prices have ranged from £6 (don't bother unless space is an issue)-£10 a ton. An arctic takes between 16-30 tons. We pay a local farmer a morning to load a couple of arctics. It is much easier that having to find a place to dump it. At £6 the costs of loading are just covered but at £10 it's an OK earner. We had to pay to spread it on the fields a 7 or 8 years back.. For £3 it would be barely cover the cost of loading.. We have a 10 inch chipper and are careful about keeping it clean a free of logs etc.. The demand is only going to increase, Drax powerstation wants to be 50% wood chip powered in the near future and they are going to be importing wood from the other side of the world! My 2-300 tons would probably last seconds in a powerstation..
  21. They will offer more if it is clean and you haggle. So will Boomco.
  22. Life is to short to chase the additional charges IMO. Its £70 charges plus the interest which isn't much.... If they didn't want to pay for work you have done then they are really unlikely to want to pay extra charges..
  23. The statutory demand with the interest etc worked out well. Amazingly they had sent the cheque, the day before they had received the demand.....! So did not pay the interest and other charges... Still I'd recommend that route..
  24. I have just brought a Countax A2050 HE Honda 20HP ride on mower. Not because I need or have any use but it was going cheap. It came with a little trailer and scarifier. Has anyone used one for moving stuff, How much will it tow? Just across the yard or over a garden? would it be worth removing the deck and using it for pulling chippersacross gardens, or maybe a trailer/arb trolley? It might be useful to move logs from the log pile to splitter. I have never even driven one, and know nothing about them, except what they sell for on ebay!
  25. The VW is the crafter. The grafter is a Nissan. We have just brought a 3.5 ton for the younguns to drive it has a 7 ton train weight. We can tow the 3.5 ton trailer with it which we can't do with our 6 ton iveco as we are restricted to the 8250 train weight! This is off topic but the OP has had a list of 4x4's pick ups any how..
