  1. Any solutions? Fell is not an option. Fencing off is not an option. I am thinking some type of resin based paving system but have no experience..
  2. Once you join the scheme you can stay in it until your total business income is more than £230,000.
  3. NO!! you have your brew with breakfast BEFORE work.. Get to job and get on with it stop at 11.00 (if suitable) for 15 mins again around 1.00 for 30 mins.
  4. Surely you have to pay employees from when they start work/clock in. You can't expect them to not be paid for the drive to the job site or the drive back to the yard.. It's not there fault you book work an hour and a half away.. I expect my guys to be in the yard for 830 and normally leave by 430. Price jobs/set wages accordingly. If its a long commute it is factored into the quote. As to sick pay my contracts are the same, losing 3 days pay before getting sick pay may seem mean but it cuts down on monday morning hangovers..
  5. You claim on capital items over £2000. So any big purchases you get the vat back, but not the other stuff..
  6. You can join the Flat Rate Scheme for VAT and so pay VAT as a flat rate percentage of your turnover if: Your estimated VAT taxable turnover - excluding VAT - in the next year will be £150,000 or less. Once you join the scheme you can stay in it until your total business income is more than £230,000. The Flat Rate Scheme has been working well for us. Simplifies accounting, only adds 10.5% to a domestic bill and commercial clients are charged 20% but you only pay 10.5! I think there is a calculator somewhere where you can put in your details and work out what is best for you.
  7. Stick it on ebay. We recently split some logs for an old fella who had purchased several loads.. He paid well over the odds IMO.. I am tempted to try selling our logs like that rather then bother to process it!
  8. Many years ago i worked at connick doing street trees in london. They had 4special wheel jacks that you put under each wheel and could then push cars out the way. I think they had to stop using them as cars were moved across the road and boxed in etc. People complained... I would be very carefull moving anyones car without permision as you would be liable for any damage.
  9. How many employed climbers are on a £31,200 salary ?
  10. And price.. I'll deffo be looking at the bandits when it is time to replace our 250
  11. Our 10 inch 250 Timberwolf will pretty much chip anything you can drag to it. You just need a bigger chipper..
  12. Definitely an option, as long as the tree owner is willing to pay regular survey and pruning costs. Another cheaper/lower risk option is to fell and replant.
  13. Page 121 THA and M. By the time that large fruit bodies of M. giganteus appear, especially on F. Sylvatica, it is likely that a high chance of windthrow exists... M. giganteus is one of the most dangerous decay fungi to be found on F. sylvatica. As I said things have moved on, but the tree in the OP is not an amazing specimen and the risk/cost required to retain the tree is probably not worth it IMO.
  14. A consultant is just going to cost extra. I know things have moved on a bit since londsdale recommended felling whenever you saw merip on beech, but it is a heavily reduced beech on the roadside, its days are numbered... IMO.
  15. Most folk here given the choice would rather be cutting trees then grass, therefore climbers should be paid less... and they cost a fortune to train. Not just in courses but it takes years to become a commercial speed climber. The employer has recoup the costs over time that they put into the climber..
  16. I think we must have the wide cab version as there is more room in the cab then in our Iveco 6 tonner.
  17. mercedes sprinter greenmech woodchipper system shredder sat nav reverse camera | eBay Been on sale for months..
  18. Did it come with a tow bar? Ours had the mounting point but not the tow bar. We've had to get one made to fit, interested as to what the original was like.
  19. Was your red.. Looks Like LAE Vehicle rental had a bunch......
  20. Not sure if it is still for sale: Isuzu NKR 77 TURBO ELECTRIC DI TIPPER | eBay We brought its sister a couple of weeks back, they are a real truck. So far pretty impressed. Looks like ours was leased to fountains (but not for arb). Isuzu NKR 77 tipper | eBay
  21. We use the Stihl Km130 with two 1m extensions. It's pretty long. 4m 48cm ..
  22. Can you hire the scaffold poles with the heras panels? is it a standard attachment?
  23. The whole point of tree protective fencing is that it is NOT just simple Heras fencing. It is supposed to be semi permanent. Heras fencing is simply moved by contractors when it is in the way. I have done it myself many times to get to trees on building sites.. I guess you could use scaffold poles to secure the heras panels.
  24. I have specified the standard BS5837 fencing numerous times over the years, but never installed any. Where do you get it? Can you hire it (East Midlands)? How much does it cost? Cheers.
