  7. If it is Derby City. They seem to be having issues at the minute. I've found constant calling and emailing produces results. Going to appeal doesn't help as that takes even longer...

  10. What have people found best in reclaiming unpaid invoices from commercial clients who are slow to pay? We have got one company owes us £2500 and keep promising to pay but never delivering.. It has been going on for some months now. I am NOT interested in threats of violence etc... Legal methods. Small Claims Court Debt collectors Solicitors letters What are the costs involved. What has worked best.

  12. We had another one today but a cat this time! It was a successful rescue to!
  13. Any plans to run one in the Midlands?
  14. D L-J, asked me for feedback so IF YOU HAVE READ the book I am sure he would be interested in your views. Pretty sure he is an arbtalk member. I came across the term RVT about ten years ago and think it the best way to reduce trees. From the looks of many reductions I see many tree surgeons have never come across the techniques. It's not rocket science but IMO trees look and respond better then the lopping which is often called a reduction. Many in the industry (including the BS3998) seem to have become very anti reduction. While I agree on the whole and often advise clients against reducing trees, I also believe that urban trees useful life expectancy can be extended using such techniques.
  15. David Lloyd-jones's E book - Tree Morphogenesis Book 1 Reduction via thinning is currently free as a download from amazon. Not sure how long it will be free.
  16. Isn't alder supposed to be good for use in water.
  17. I did say "wouldn't it be easier to shoot it." Apparently it's the 4 or 5th bird the guy has arranged tree surgeons to rescue. Normally they charge 40-50 quid.
  18. I got a call on friday, from the RSPCA asking if I could rescue a pigeon... It was loud and I wasn't sure I heard right. But he was deadly serious, a wild pigeon (I am not sure of the species) was stuck in a tree! Had been there for two days apparently. He had called the fire brigade and they could not reach it. When I asked if they were willing to pay me to rescue said bird he said they would. It was only 5 mins away so I said I would do it for £100. They said I was too expensive.
  19. I understand that and the sythe mower with hay rake would do two of the jobs and we'd have to then collect the hay. Which we could get a bunch of volunteers to do I guess. The issue is getting people at the right time to do the various jobs. The more mechanised it is the less organising is needed..
  20. My thoughts were a sycythe mower, but do we then have to rake and load the cuttings by hand, we could get the hay rake but would still need to pick up the hay. Is there one tool to do it all? The orchard facebook page if folk are interested. https://www.facebook.com/suttonboningtonorchard?ref=hl
  21. I planted a community orchard a few years ago. We are trying to encourage wild flowers etc. Last year we used a walkbehind mower and strimmers to cut the grass which was not ideal. What would be the best tool. Only about an acre but grass left long. We want to remove cuttings is possible /practicle. Local construction co is giving away cash to needy causes.
