  1. I got a call on friday, from the RSPCA asking if I could rescue a pigeon... It was loud and I wasn't sure I heard right. But he was deadly serious, a wild pigeon (I am not sure of the species) was stuck in a tree! Had been there for two days apparently. He had called the fire brigade and they could not reach it. When I asked if they were willing to pay me to rescue said bird he said they would. It was only 5 mins away so I said I would do it for £100. They said I was too expensive.
  2. I understand that and the sythe mower with hay rake would do two of the jobs and we'd have to then collect the hay. Which we could get a bunch of volunteers to do I guess. The issue is getting people at the right time to do the various jobs. The more mechanised it is the less organising is needed..
  3. My thoughts were a sycythe mower, but do we then have to rake and load the cuttings by hand, we could get the hay rake but would still need to pick up the hay. Is there one tool to do it all? The orchard facebook page if folk are interested. https://www.facebook.com/suttonboningtonorchard?ref=hl
  4. I planted a community orchard a few years ago. We are trying to encourage wild flowers etc. Last year we used a walkbehind mower and strimmers to cut the grass which was not ideal. What would be the best tool. Only about an acre but grass left long. We want to remove cuttings is possible /practicle. Local construction co is giving away cash to needy causes.

  7. The alveo is pants and will break within a month. The vertex will need to be retired after 5 years. I have brought both for the guys.
  8. Worth looking up past threads: http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/arb-trucks/55796-iveco-daily-5-2t-unladen-weight-2.html
  9. Why don't we get toyota land cruiser 79 series in the UK? It's a great truck.
  10. I will try and dig it out, but as I recall there was no real conclusions, only that at sometime, something must have damaged the flywheel, possibly causing a hairline fracture. We had never put anything through but as we brought the machine second hand it is possible damage was caused before we brought the machine. The replacement discharge chute which they replaced was the same as they fitted to later 190 models. This was thicker so something had already made them change their design.
  11. Some one sent me this regarding wages: college trainee 16,640 - 17,420 groundie 17,680 - 22,100 tree climber 20,800 - 26000 team leader 25,220 - 30,940 manager 30,160 - 42,640
  12. It was 3 years ago... TW came took the machine from our local dealer, examined it, repaired it (said they did it cheaply £3000ish if I remember correctly). The machine is still in use today as our back up and little chipper.
  13. It was 3 years ago, I'll see if I have it. .. I remember now it was a paper copy that's why I never posted. Not trying to make them look bad, we still have the machine and another TW. I only posted as I thought I'd revive the thread for the pics to illustrate what can happen in a cracked blade thread. Noticed I said I let you know the outcome and hadn't...
  14. I never did let you know what they said... "The flywheel broke.. It wasn't our fault.." Well I summarized the long the long report they sent..
  15. Not a blade but the flywheel but, looking at the pics still scares me.. http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/large-equipment/18752-very-scary-expensive.html

  19. We made the papers!! With mistakes... VIDEO: 20-metre tree topples on to four cars | Derby Telegraph
  20. We cleared up a big pop today after it smashed onto 4 cars in a car park. When I got the call I googled the location to see what I might expect. Is it just me or does any one else think the tree has moved/tilted. The gap in the canopy and direction of branches don't look quite right. If so it survived another 3 years before narrowly missing the smoking shed and taking out 4 cars. https://fbcdn-sphotos-e-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/602699_407359046039202_636136924_n.jpg
  21. We have 3.5 ton indespension, works well for us, but not used any to compare. We got a good price as they felt guilty as our chipper was nicked from their yard.. looking at their web site they dont have tippers any more so probably not a very useful post!
  22. Nothing to do with me.. But I guess they're not the most common things to find on the used market. KOMATSU FOREST Valmet 911 Harvester - Asset #cnm18201 - GoIndustry DoveBid
