  1. Clueless I have both a crane and a crane fed chipper for sale:sneaky2: Regards PeteB
  2. It's heartening to see that the LA pay so much attention to the needs of their shareholders - price first and all the hard work second:sneaky2: They probably paid a consultant thousands of pounds to organise that in and efficient manner:001_tt2:
  3. Scary stuff that one. Your driving a 7.5t truck towing a 300 series on a pre 97 licence?. STOP! Unless you've taken another bit of ticket, like wagon and drag, then your gross train is now 8.8t. a cool 450kgs over the limit. Therefore making the insurance invalid as well.
  4. One thing that truly amazes me is that you can walk into a vehicle show room, listen to the patter from the sales chap, order your Landrover, Crewcab 4x4, Transit, Grafter - whatever- and no one mentions tacho. Why aren't they fitted as standard in Transits (Generic term). Most crewcabs and Landrovers are sold for business use, but not equipped for business use. What's all that about then? If the salesman never mentioned that you have to spend another £1200 on spy in the cab - can you return said truck saying that it was "unfit for purpose"?

    My Ride

Ditto the above. 200 a month - wow!
  6. The Hippies were the guys from Lampeter Trees from Carmarthen. They came to the show in a 70's theme then were off to Cardiff for a Stag Do! Merien came to the GreenMech stand to see the Mark 2 1928 SafeTrac - it was hard to take them seriously but fair play for the comedy factor.
  7. I recently wanted a seal kit for a brake cylinder and a metalastik suspension bush and was told "they don't do seal kits anymore mate and you'll have to buy the complete shock absorber". Part of the litigious society I presume. My first experience ever in a MetalWork Class was "Change that square bar round" then "Change that round bar square" My sons school don't do metalwork but have a fabulous computer suit!
  8. I think that this years show was possibly the most easy to do from the point of an exhibitor, helpful staff, free telehandler and at the end, relatively short wait to get the trucks on. Thanks, for that side of things. I'm pretty sure that a "roving" show would be more attractive - you'll always have the "too far to come" type visitor, so take the show to them. Over night camping and facilities would be attractive as well. It's interesting that footfall is the measure of your success, As far as I'm concerned, a five man gang with one buyer is a footfall of one! Remember, no sales, no exhibitors, no show. Yes, the exhibitors need to have the right tools at the right price but with no buyers there, why should we go?
  9. Why do you want him? I don't know him but I'm a curious person.
  10. Could it be at the Merthyr Tydfil auctions?
  11. I got fined some years ago even tho the plate on the chipper was registered to a GreenMech lorry and I was in a GreenMech car. It has to be a "regular" plate and relating to the towing vehicle.
  12. I can remember not long back when armed Police misread a dangerous situation and drilled a chap. They got it wrong and have been rightly censured. But what would have happened if they were right and the fellow was going to let off a bomb and killed bystanders. In this case, I think that the one guy was right to stop and help a shot person, and the other two should have followed at a remote distance. They weren't trained to deal with the situation and only may have aggravated it. For me, I would have floored the throttle in the Transit van and smeared the chap up the street and worried about the consequences later!
  13. Sweet table that, makes me wonder...............................................
  14. I would like a bigger garage so that I could more hot rod junk in it! But I do like the idea of "Coke and strippers" but with beer instead of coke - all that fizzing gets up my nose:sneaky2:
  15. Welcome to the UK Bryce, good luck with the job hunt.
  16. Good luck on the wedding Max - hope you both enjoy the day!
  17. He is one lucky chap to only break a leg, I would have messed myself as well.

  19. I had a good look at these at the recent Outdoor Power Tools open day in Derby. The Etesia rep, Ian Collington, brought the kit along to the day. After the initial cost of about £900 for the back pack and some £600 for the hedge cutter, the running costs are about 30p a day. No noise, no fumes, no petrol mix, no burnt out pots/piston, no knackered blades. The battery lasts all day on a charge and was light and comfortable to wear. The long reach pruner was also light and easy to use. If I was to be doing loads of long reach, or hedge work then I would certainly give it a lot of thought. It might be dear to buy, but with minimal running costs and some green credentials plus noise, fumes and petrol/mix storage and use chucked in the equation~plus the "gadget" factor. Hmm.............
  20. Nice one! I wish I could get GreenMech to invest in them.
  21. Bugger, that sounds darn painful. Good luck and I hope the recovery is short and fruitful.

    Santa Pod

I am very tempted. Not been all year due to budgetary measures. If I get my Hot Rod going, can afford the fuel and entry and have sorted everything else out and watched the weather forecast - then defo!
  23. Talking of hands Mike, how's yours?
  24. I've always prefered the wire rope and closed loop padlock. Wire rope cannot by pinched through with ordinary croppers and cannot be frozen with a pipe freezing kit and belted with a hammer. Its very difficult to cut with a saw and a 'grinder makes a bit of noise!
